Yes I do 1 gallon water change a week. And a big 4 gallon once a month

What equipment do you have etc I’ve seen people go completely no water changes I personally think it’s whatever works for you. But I notice corals and fish and the overall look of the tank is better after a water change especially the big one.

aznflyfisherma, do you have a protein skimmer? I notice my tanks get a build up of a little froth on the water surface which I assume due to my lack of a skimmer. When it unsightly that's when I do a big WC. I first use paper towels to remove the froth then do a WC. I do this about every 3 weeks for my 20 long. Also, I'm surprised you're GSP hasn't taken over your tank! I have a 5 gallon Pico reef tank that I glued a bit of GSP on the back wall thinking it would be cool looking. But yikes that wall is totally covered and I have to trim it every month or so to remove new growth on the side walls!

If changing 3 gallons of water (in your 29g) is too much work, either you are making them harder than they need to be, or this might be the wrong hobby for you. It literally takes me less than 10 minutes to do a water change in my 40b. I just finished one today in less time than my pumps spent in feed mode.

On the 300g it was a different story. We did 50g water changes 2 x a month and it was a good deal of work. It still took less than 30 minutes, but what is 30 minutes in this hobby? I spend longer than that just staring at my tank.

If it works for you great. I would NEVER suggest someone go without doing at least 20% monthly. I do 10% weekly and plan on continuing that as long as I have a reef tank I care about.
