Kessil A350
Has anybody heard whether this pendant is hitting the market soon? Many claim it will be a "game changer" for SPS tanks.

Whispers are good! Yelps are even better.
I'm setting up a new SPS tank (being built right now) and struggling as to what lights I'll be putting over it. Kessil's a great, established company with a proven track record in the horticulture industry so I'm hoping these will be all that I'm hoping they can be. |

With how these "whispers" are shaping up, it doesn't sound like you'll need any t5 supplementation whatsoever Kamisxy. Waiting is the toughest part of this hobby. It's funny...I don't even have a glass box with water in it yet and I want them already.

If I were to go LEDS I would get 2 kessil a350 with a reefbrite XHO blue. For the time being Im sticking with T5 since they are proven to me to give good growth and color.

It seems the multichip kessil and orphek did poorly on Sanjay's new LED testing. Im starting to wonder if these multichip cannons are the way to go...I once thought so.

Sanjay's tests were for the Kessil 150...closer to the power of a 150 watt halide. The Kessil A350 is supposed to be able to handle the capacity of a 400 watt halide. Sanjay hasn't tested this model yet...only the 150.
If anyone is going to introduce the multi-chip technology to our hobby, Kessil would be the one to do it. They're a proven company in the horticulture industry already with the H350 model. We'll just have to wait and see. |

LOL, I'm trying to find the link for you guys. If I remember correctly, it was a lot less than 100 PAR 24 inches deep on the sandbed with mediocre results that were less than t5 at the surface. Their new a350 that I'm waiting to hear about may be a few months still.
I emailed Kessil a couple weeks ago and this was the reply... Quote:

Waiting for the A350. Possiblye, holding off on buying lights until this makes it to market.
Was thinking of buying 2x A150's if two would effectively double the PAR of only one A150 at the same point directly below and between the lights 20" under the waterline. Not sure if PAR works that way. |

I wish they would make the 350s with the ability to change optics and be dimmable, and get it out in the next month or so. I think this company is headed in the right direction with LEDs that will eventually replace MH.

Putting out the A350 and potentially the 450 while keeping their prices relatively low will take this company over the top. Heck, the pricing is what makes the A150 attractive. I'll take no dimming over a price increase.

My metal halide is not dimmable, so why does a LED have to be?
