My Blue Spotted Toby LOVES Nori! (Video)

I put nori in my tank for the 1st time tonight. I’ve read that many fish will ignore it for a bunch of feedings until they figure out what it is. Not my Blue Spotted Toby! He attacked it as soon as I put the clip in the water. I let him go at it for a few minutes then removed what was left. As I was taking it out of the tank he played tug-of-war with me. The other fish picked at the pieces he ripped off during his frenzy.

Cool vid! Just make sure you feed him meaty foods as well.

That is not surprising. Algae is a relatively important part of puffer diets. This, combined with their naturally inquisitive nature made for a quick 'taste test' and apparently it liked it. Glad to hear it is doing well for you.

Ya Algundo he gets a frozen mysis or blood worms every day. I plan to start supplementing with nori since we are getting a tang in the future.

Thanks!

You think he could fit any food any more in his mouth before he tried to break it off. My angel just pulls the whole piece of nori off the clip and watches it fall. The watches me reach down to the bottom of my 31" deep tank. Laugh it up while you can fish....

What kind of angel? I'm trying to get my Coral Beauty to go after different foods also. Right now he only eats pellets off the floor.

Try using garlic on foods to attract him. The lfs should have some liquid in a bottle for you.
