29g Bio cube

29gal bio cube:

heres what i was thinking

Fish number 1: Tomato clown or a Dwarf angel (coral beauty or Red stripe)

fish number 2: Watchman goby (not sure how easy it will be to find around where i am)

fish number 3: Azure Damsel fish/yellow tail damsel.

I also love shrimps! they are so neat. The peppermint shrimp and banded coral shrimp are to cool.

I probably end up with the Tomato clown, as the dwarf angels are said to nip at corals. The lady at the LFS said her Coral beauty's don't nip at corals but I'm skeptical. Is the damsel to much for a 29 gallon with a clown, goby and shrimps? Are there other small blue fish like the damsel that are not bully's?

Thanks in advance!

yeah. Be skeptical on the angel. Others will say different but I bought a coral beauty. He apparently thought my zoas were beauty because he died quickly. LOL

1 tang as my show fish. Achilles is my favorite, or maybe powder blue or white cheek. Just 1 of these 3, not all.
1 yellow tang. If you do one of the above, I would skip the yellow
Potters angel slightly more difficult
Flame angel
Royal gramma
Pair of clowns, not sure which. Ocellaris maybe? Black & white? Maybe Picasso?
5 anthias? Maybe. Carberryi or dispar? carberryi is superb
Watchman goby / pistol shrimp
Cleaner wrasse I would not do so; cleaner shrimp are better and more probably successful
Flasher wrasse maybe.
Green mandarin like a year or so down the line.

This list sound possible?

Thank you for the help.
with the slight tweeks above, a good plan

banded coral shrimp take fish

tomato clowns are aggressive once mature. In a small tank it would be best not to have aggressive fish as it is such a small tank.

Thanks in advance!

Awesome. Thank you for the quick reply. I will drop the yellow tang. Potters angels I've had in the past with ease myself. I've heard otherwise from lots of people, but I found it easy to keep. Thanks for the advice. If I drop the cleaner wrasse for a cleaner shrimp could I replace the cleaner wrasse with a different type of wrasse?

Sure. I do not advocate cleaner wrasses because many/most do not survive and those that do have insufficient "clients" in normal sized aquaria. In any case they do not have any effect on parasites.

Actually, for a variety of reasons, I do not do recommendations. However, I will always be happy to provide commentary on any stocking list for compatibility with each other and with the environment you provide.

Unfortunately no butterfly is totally reef safe. One of the most reef safe is either of the two Forcipiger butterfly fish. But they are not small and would have to be your centerpiece fish.

The most firefish is a pair assuming a male plus female pairing. Be careful they jump.

Was planning on upgrading to a 120gallon tank (48x24x24) and was hoping you could give me some advice about my stocking list. These would be going into a reef tank. Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

1x kole tang
1x sailfin tang
1x crosshatch trigger
1x flame angel (already have, reef-safe so far)
1x six line wrasse
1x royal gramma
1x black white ocellaris
3x blue green chromis
1x midas blenny

Well, first of all, you have a couple of fish that will be too large for your tank: a sailfin tang gets about a foot in length and will not do well with another tang in a smallish tank, also a crosshatch trigger gets largish (11 inches) and is not invertebrate safe. Chromis will winnow down to just one. A flame angel is not reef safe even though it may be temporarily. Six line wrasses can be a PIA with aggressive behavior. Wish I could provide a more favorable outlook.

In a 75 gallon with 100+ pounds of LR would a Cleaner shrimp, Fire shrimp, and one or two Peppermint shrimp get along?

Hey,

80 gallon (but 6ft wide), 110 pounds of live rock, system 6 months old.

Already in tank:
Foxface
occelaris Clown x2

I'm trying to decide between a yellow tang and a lipstick tang. Lipsticks are cheaper at LFS I go to, but they get bigger, too big??? Also foxface and yellow tang might be too much yellow in the tank. what do you guys recommend???

Thanks in advance.

Although this thread is about fish, yes they would. However, the fire shrimp may be more reclusive.

In a smallish tank, two grazers may be problematical; Naso tangs get way too large for your tank, but the yellow may become aggressive since the food supply is somewhat limited.

While this is one of my favorite fish, on occasion, this fish may nip at SPS and some species of polyp corals in the reef aquarium. I would not trust it with meaty LPS corals for sure.
