QT size

Would 10g be sufficient? Or should I aim for a little more at 15-20g? Want to spend as little as I can cause it will likely sit empty for the majority of the time.

Petco $1.00 per gallon sale. Price difference = 2 cups of that 5bucks coffee.

What size is your display? I really like 20 long for a QT.

I am about to use my QT for the first time this weekend. I got a 10g Marineland. My tank will be gobys, dartfish and all around small creatures, so Im not too concerned with the size. More concerned with the filtration and temp, but I'm committed to a rigorous parameter testing and WC regiment.

However, if I had made it to this famous $1 per gallon Petco sale, I would have totally gone whole hog.

Gonna pick up a brand new 20g L off of craigslist today for $20.

I'm thinking of putting a few pieces of live rock in there to help speed up the cycle but would they just become breeding grounds for parasites from quarantined fish?

Nothing from QT should go to DT except livestock, to be safe.

IMO, I have always like the 20 gallon long tanks. You are able to do multiple small fish or you can do a decent size single fish. I've done a 4-5 inch Tang in one with no problem.

Mine is a 10 and have done tangs just fine. You'll hear all sort of stories but at the end its your call. At least you know it can be done. Common sense plays a big part in the hobby so don't try 5 large fish in a 10.
