Thanks Greg, an especially gratifying compliment from a former winner and an SPS-keeping inspiration for us!

I was curious. What is your photo period for each of your light types? I've been running 400w ushio 14k lights with 2 4ft reefbrite strips along the front edge of the tank. I have a 400 gallon system in my office and have not been having success with the corals I've introduced to date. The 3 halide lights are on a light mover. However I think I'm running them too long. My water params for Ca, Alk, Mag, phosphates and nitrates seem to be ok so by process of elimination I'm looking at the lighting. I don't have access to a par meter.

Sorry for the delayed reply. We recently made the switch over to LED's, but here's the photo period breakdown by light type that we used with the MH's:

Photoperiod
10:00 AM: LEDs ON (Dawn)
11:00 AM: Actinics ON, LEDS OFF
4:00 PM: Halide #1 ON
4:15 PM: Halide #2 ON
4:30 PM: Halide #3 ON, Actinics OFF
10:00 PM: Actinics ON, Halide #1 OFF
10:15 PM: Halide #2 OFF
10:30 PM: Halide #3 OFF
10:45 PM: LEDs ON (Dusk)
11:00 PM: Actinics OFF
11:30 PM: LEDs OFF

We found with the 400w MH's that 6 hours of intense light worked best for us. Hope this helps.
