Black plastic trim for top rim of Aquarium?

Is there anyone online who sells the black plastic trim for the top of aquariums? I need straight pieces that I can cut for a custom sized tank.

If it's a custom tank why don't you just euro brace it and forget about the black trim?

I think they can be ordered from the tank makers but will come in 1 piece the size of the aquarium it was ordered for. You would have to bond all the sides together anyways to get it to work as designed in a custom made one.

I just tossed a brand new 50g that got broke on 2 sides with the black trim on it.....

what is the purpose of this? It is not going to make the tank stronger and prolly make it look worse.

I already have the tank, and it is Euro-braced. I happen to prefer not seeing the water line at the top of the tank, which is why I'd like to add the black plastic trim.

Hmm I have one that came on the bottom of my tank. Not sure it will work but I guess you can have it. I'm in Jacksonville. It's 48Lx18W

Thanks for the offer, but it would only fit on two of the sides. I was hoping that there is someplace online that sells the stuff.

buy some opaque black vinyl and run one strip so there aren't any seams not a chunky looking top.

just brainstorming.

Other than that, you can use some ABS or Acrylic but I dont know anyone who will only sell that little bit.

What about using that Krylon Fusion paint? Mask off the stripe you want around the top, and paint it. This is assuming your tank isn't up and running yet...

yeah, there ya go! It would be tight to do it on the inside so you would have the consistent gloss look on the outside of the tank.

Thanks,

If that stuff is black, then it's exactly what I'm looking for!

Hey Floridiot.
Did you ever order that bracing?
If so (and it was what you're thinking it was), will it fit on 1/4 inch thick glass?
I'm planning on a custom-sized smaller aquarium and would like to have it trimmed out so it matches our standard tanks. And to have the lip to hold the glass or screen top.
Thanks for any reply.
JASON

Nope, never did. I ended up preferring the look of no trim after all.
