so when you were ramping up the intensity for your corals, were you just adjusting the intensity points slowly up from the 10-4 full spectrum period or were you also adjusting the intensity from 8-10 and 4-5?

I took it real slow. Probably slower than i needed to. As i only had 150 MH on my previous tanks.
When i had it set at 20k the over all intensity was 40%. And with all colors at 100% over all intensity 40%. But the time for mid-day was a lot shorter too. Then i would turn the overall intensity up 5-10% every week and increase the time of mid-day until i hit 6 hours.

I finally got my lights hung and snapped a few pics. I just used some 1"x1/4"thk flat bar painted black. I wanted to use my existing hanging kit that was already in the ceiling from my ATI Powermodule. That is why the flat bar is a little longer than it needs to be. I'm happy with how it turned out.

It's kind of weird but for some reason one of my RBTA's didn't like the change from T5's to LEDs. You can see both of them in the pic below. They sat side by side for months. Now all the sudden the one on the left decided to walk up the wall and rest in the upper back corner. That brings up a question I have. I had an ATI 48" 8x54w dimmable PowerModule that ran on a schedule....
10am-11am ramp up from 0-100% (2 bulb channel) 11am-12pm ramp up from 0-100% (6 bulb channel) 11am-8pm on all 8 bulbs 100% 8pm-9pm ramp down from 100%-0% (6 bulbs. 2 bulb channel still on 100%) 9pm-10pm ramp down from 100%-0% (2 bulb channel) 10pm-10am all bulbs off. So I had quite a bit of light. I don't want to risk burning any corals with the new LED's. What is the max % I should go say from 11am-8pm like before? Right now I have 20K maxed out at 40%. Could I go higher? Would I be ok with say 20K at 60% from 11am-8pm during this first week? |

My Sick Radions
The great thing about this hanging solution is that you can rotate the lights out of the way

Has anyone heard of and/or used these hanging brackets?
http://www.modularled.ca/radion-hanging-rails/ By the way... eidels, i like your setup. I was thinking of hanging my 4 fixtures from the ceiling but I am liking your design. Where did you get the support brackets? How are they attached to the stand/tank? Thanks |

the radions are suspended from iron conduit and drilled so the cord is hidden and pass through it. Some minor soldering was involved. The conduit is fixed to the back of the stand with the simple brackets found at the hardware store. I had to buy a conduit bender and borrow a good quality soldering iron and desolder sucker device. Ecotech offered to do the soldering, saying that I would void the warranty but it was a simple process to detach the wires to run them and reattach them to the connector as it is too big to run through the conduit.
