Is this dinoflagellates or diatom?
Saw this yellow patches at my refugium after my chaeto showing sign of dying
Is this dinoflagellates or diatom? May I know what can I do to eliminate this. |

Thats very minor diatom growth and a bit of detritus.. That is not the reason your chaeto is dying.. Give us detailed information about your tank.. Age of tank? Nitrate level? Phosphate level? and the type of lighting you are using on the chaeto? Its likely that your tank is just too new and the chaeto is simply starving as the tank isn't mature enough to sustain its growth..

so this is a diatom not dinoflagellates?
yes, this is not the reason that killed my chaeto but this yellow stuff start growing after my chaeto die off... my tank is very new, only 2.5 month old Nitrate = 5ppm Phosphate = 0.15ppm Lighting = 24W PAR 38 LED Red bulb The above nutrient is not enough to sustain the growth of chaeto? |
