Clown Pair in a 40G?

Hi,

Currently i have one tomato clown in my tank. I want to know if i return it to LFS and get a pair of true/false perc clowns (one black and one orange) would it be ok with my current stock or will they be aggresive and kill other fishes?
Also i wanted to know in the case that i cant have a pair if i replace the tomato with Black australian perc would it decrease the aggresion in the tank since tomato clowns get mean when they get big.

clowns are great community fish. +1 on taking the tomato out they are meaner than the percs. If you put the new ones all at the same time you won't have any aggression issues. Good luck I love clowns

A bit confusion in your post, you are getting a bit confused b/t A. ocellaris and A. percula, they are 2 different species. (( the terms "true" and "false" just makes things more confusing )).

There is no black Australian "perc", it is an A. ocellaris.

If you are going to add a pair of A. percula or a pair of A. ocellaris, you will need to remove the "tomato" clown first.

Yeah im not that great with names when it comes to clowns as i only know them by colors. This is what i want a pair of
Australian Black Percula & True Percula Clownfish. Would they become take over my tank when they get mature enough to have babies or would thye still stay calm and passive?

Thing is, there is no Australian Black Percula --- they are ocellaris. So, it would seem like you want a pair of ocellaris, with one being black and white and the other being orange and white.

While ocellaris have the best chance of staying clam, clownfish become more aggressive when they start spawning. I had a pair of pink skunks (( A. perideraion )) that started off as model citizens, once they started spawning they became holy terrors. I ended up selling them because they had become just too aggressive for my tanks.
