PaleHorse's 20G BattleCorals SPS Build

Whats up guys!!
After a few questions on lighting i finally went ahead and placed my order for my new build. here is the list

20G jbj RL20 With stand 20x24x9" shallow
reef crystals salt
refractometer
aqualift pump(ATO)
digital thermometer
aquamedic 150 hqi(Phoenix 14k) T5 HO( 420 and 460 bulbs) Thanks to member ALLMOST! For the countless questions i had about lighting

75w neo thermo heater
Purigen
Reef booster (prodibio sps food)
chemipure
CAD Nano protein skimmer
wp10

This Will be a SPS only tank and will only be from the best SPS Coral company in the world..... BattleCorals.

I will post pics along the way and of course growth. Im coming from a LED tank. I was not happy with the growth. my parameters were perfect and my colors were nothing to brag about but my growth was so slow.......

Lets see what the Metal halides can do!

damn 250w over a 12" is awesome. i was thinking of getting a 20k phoenix since my tank is so shallow

For serious SPS i go to Battlecorals. I like to buy from vendors that support the military.

Battlecorals made me a welcome back home pack that had the craziest SPS i have ever seen. send adam on BC a message. especially with your lighting!!

That does sound awesome, I have a 250w radium over mine and love it.

I would love to get In on some battlecorals group buy action. That's awesome that they did that for you. Shows true colors of some people. Thank you for your service

Your welcome sir!!! i have been in so long that it feels normal.

So my order came in from dr fosters...... of course (just my luck) something is wrong. one thing that was no big deal is they sent me biodigest vials,i clearly ordered reef booster as it states on the receipt. The second was they sent me the wrong tank..... how is this even possible..... lets see how customer service deals with this. i leave for italy in a week. this sucks

Some people take it for granted.

It seems I've heard they have been messing up orders more often lately. Sorry man, that's a big bummer. It's good to see boxes though

What's the difference between biodigest and reef booster?

Lights came in from aquamedic. I cant believe how solid this unit is. its perfect and extremely slim. 14k phoenix 150w/t5 420 and 460. So much light its the perfect color.

You guys think the sps will be okay

Nice looking light! I think the sps will be perfect with a light like that! I've had 150w phoenix on a 75g with sps no problems at all. Youve got that on a 20g plus t5's for some color and par. Should come out great bud!

Kyle

thanks everyone, cant wait to start growing!!! RO/DI kit just came in. Now i just need my reef boosters and cad nano skimmer. Ordered a tunze nano ATO instead of the aqua lifter.

What can i use the aqua lifter now for?

I need to order a 3 unit doser and i will be good. i will order it once in the new house. tank is gonna be dope!!

this is the doser i was looking at. I had a aqua medic doser and it was nothing special. as long as it doses im good.

What RO/DI unit did you decide on? That 3 unit doser seems like a good price, I'm interested in getting one. I just do not want to spend close to $300 on one haha.
I saw on someone thread yesterday that they had that doser and they didn't have a problem with it.

I went with this one from ebay. 69$ shipped. Its perfect. nice and compact. Since i have a nano im not going to be making water like i use to for my 120G tank. No point spending crazy money on equipment.....

For the doser im just gonna go with the fish street one. they have a god warrenty and perfect reviews

Yea its a marineland 93. The only thing i didnt like was getting to the coral all the way at the bottom....

So i didnt think it was possible for a company to send out 2 wrong items when that was the item they sent wrong in the first place....

What tank did they send you? Can't wait to see this build I just bought a jbj. 30 rimless- when I got home it was somehow already cracked! Don't know if I hit a bump or what but I'm considering the 20 rl now

So I am going to order the
4 head Doser from fish street
Cal,mag,alk bundle from brs
Cad pls elite pls50 skimmer(just released)
Reef test kits

I'm headed to the airport today to Germany and Italy. A few days before I get back I'll put the order in for the above items. Once I get the tank cycled I'll head over and buy a birdsnest somewhere to make sure everything's okay. Then I'll have Adam at battle corals send my beautiful corals and put them in their new home!!!!

Adam has been awesome. He's been helping me out since I was deployed to Afghanistan. He definitely supports the troops. Since I didnt have my tank up yet due to a military move, he cut all the coral I wanted, took pics and is taking care of them for me till I'm ready!!!!! All the frags he sends are huge. I don't know anyone that was ever let down by battlecorals.

RL20 is awesome. I can't wait to get it set up. I made the mistake of going huge thinking that's what makes a advance reefer...... I also made the mistake of LEDs..... Now I'm ready for a strictly high end sps tank.
