Ph probe port in kalk stirrer?

is this so you watch the Ph and know when to add more kalk?

Yes, I use mine to trigger an alarm on my AC3 that it is time to add more kalk. I set the alarm to trigger at ph < 9.5 since the probe is calibrated to a lower value and there is some margin for error.

Fully saturated is 11+

Monitoring by probe is not a substitute for regular additions, just a handy reminder.

12.54. If you are really interested in monitoring your Kalk reactor, I understand a conductivity probe/meter is the preferred method.

See Randy Holmes-Farley's article "What Your Grandmother Never
Told You About Lime" here:

http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2005-01/rhf/index.php

General consensus on several prior Reef Central threads is in agreement with Avast's response that a pH meter will not reliably read that high if calibrated with 7.0 and 10.0 solutions.
