had them, dipped in every possible dip, pulled out tweezers and pulled them off, but they are nearly impossible to beat....i ended up throwing the three montis i had in the trash. The easiest way to beat them is to not get them........and if you happen to find them in the tank, solve your problem, and dont get montis for at least two months..

I have fairly recently had them and eventually lost every monti in the tank.
Thank God it was my small tank. Still lost a few sweet ones though. In another couple of months i will start adding again.

I've never had them. I've always soaked all new montis in Lugols for 15 minutes and brushed with a toothbrush all non skeleton areas just in case of eggs. So far, so good.

I put a bananna wrasse in my tank, havent seen any for 6 months. I have a separate frag tank that the nudi's made an appearance in lately so the wrasse is definately keeping the numbers down in my main tank

I thought i eradicated them about 6 months ago after doing repeated dips in TMCP but for some reason they began showing up again and i have not added any montis since. I might have gotten it from someone else, although i try and dip eveything i get. So, IME, TMCPP works really well for these guys.
Anyone else have the same experience? Thought they were gone and they came back a couple months later? |

Iodine seems to make the adults fall off but does nothing to the eggs. I beat them by dipping my monti about every other day in iodine. I guess eventually I broke the life cycle. If I had known what I do now about the little buggers I probably would have chucked the monti... I count myself very lucky to have beaten them (I've been nudi free for 8+ months now)

I had them, ended up throwing away the colony they came in on. Luckily I saw them right away and that was months ago, crossing my fingers I got them all, there was what i believe to be an egg sack under the colony that I sucked off ( sorry I can't think of another way to say that )with some tubing.
They are bad and I now dip everything in TMPCC even clams, no problems with that stuff or parasites yet.

I had them and lost a Monti the size of a large pizza. I slowly manually picked them off of another Monti and I haven't had a problem in about 9 months. I was lucky!!!!

This is what they are doing to one of my favourite colony's This is what is hopefully going to help me keep them under control. I have heard that once you have them you will never completely loose them.

Well I found them today and now I know whats been going on with my monties.Ive lost alot of money with these darn buggers.I just found them on my green base orange poly digi.Ive got 3 montis with no signs of damage on them so im off to the lfs to get some reef dip.I just cant seem to figure out where these nudis came from.I have not placed any new untreated monties in my tank for months. To date ive lost 2 rainbow monties,1 superman montie,2 german blue monties,2 pink base orange polyp monties,1 yellow with blue polyp montie and my elkhorn montie. All this makes me wonder the time it takes their eggs to hatch.

jwre,
I saw your tank when I was in Amsterdam for the coral husbandry symposium. I was with Joe Y, and we stopped by to check it out. Very nice tank! Took lots of pictures. To bad we couldn't meet up with you. We noticed the nudis right away. What is the species of the monti they are on? Confusa?? justin |
