Replacement Tunze ATO pump

Has anyone hooked up any other pump that is quieter that the one that comes with the 3155 ATO? I might need a new one as mine seems to stay on longer and sounds louder than usual.

Tunze sells a switch allowing you to change the pump.

I knid of like a noisy ATO pump usually after a couple of minutes I start to worry it is stuck.

A replacement Tunze pump is like 20$ on BRS.

Otherwise they do sell a plug that allows you to use any pump of your choice.

I recently replaced a loud tunze ato pump. It was in service five years.

Bought another tunze, and it's near silent. Just a little hum. It's sitting in a five gallon bucket of water next to the tank.

Did you shake it while running to be sure that there is no air trapped inside the pump? I have 3 of these and the only time they make a lot of noise is when they run dry and my wife does not shake after replacing the water in the reservoir...

Mine was quite loud, but didn't mind it since it was only going off every 6 or so hours. I started dosing kalkwasser and didn't want it to get clogged so I bought IM snappgrid to prop the pump and and it is A LOT quieter. I would try propping it on an egg crate or a snappgrid before looking into another pump. The snappgrid was $10 shipped on prime.

I picked up a new one. They are pretty cheap and it was due for a new one.

If you want a bombproof replacement for the Tunze ATO pump, check out what this guy did on YouTube. Apparently, it works without the pricey Tunze transformer and since it uses arguably the best peristaltic pump in the hobby, it’s kalk safe too.

Nice redundancy. If something can go wrong, it will.

I don’t understand what you mean by this. Is the original pump not have redundancy on its own too?
