Petsolutions.com has them for 39.99. They usually have some of the best prices around on equipment.

MrMexReefer: the acrylic tool I was referring to was the scoring and cutting tool. It helps to cut the acrylic in a straight line (with the help of a straight edge of course).

Thanks reef_dude76, I used your post to mod an AquaClear 70.

Supplies:
AquaClear 70 Power Filter (PetLand)
Tube of Crazy Glue Gel (Wal-mart) Why is it that Crazy Glue will bond instantly to anything but what you are trying to glue!?!?
Swing Arm Desk Lamp (Wal-mart)
Philips 27w Daylight (6500K) Lightbulb (Home Depot)
Chaetomorphia (LFS)

I used part of the bottom grating to make a screen for the space under the bulkhead between the impeller and the resevoir as I was worried that the algae might get into the impeller.

I didn't create a heater compartment.

Here are some pics...

(It's currently on the front of the tank as I am planning to swap out the CC for a DSB and move the tank but ran out of time this weekend.)

To update this thread, I am sorry to say that I once again had to tear down my nano.

In its place I have setup a new 20 high nano in my home office. My 10 gallon did well for awhile, but I decided to go with a species specific tank and thus setup the 20 to house a pair of seahorses. In setting up this tank I decided not to go with the AC refugium mod and instead used a CPR bakpak that I had lying around. I also build a closed loop for circulation and maintain my water quality via water changes as my skimmer.

So far it is home to two peppermint shrimp, a few snails, two patchs of GSP, and a Kenya tree that has split three times.

I love the Natural Light adding some color there.

Looks Great, but how are you going to keep all that Calupera in check?

Pruning ... lots and lots of pruning. Actually, it has taken over a month for the macro to grow that much.

Once power is restored the water level immediately comes back up to the proper level and my heater is again covered.

So, as long as the water level doesn't fall in the display tank to the point it breaks the syphon, everything seems like it should be fine.
Because he has installed the baffles, it forces it to be a one way system. The impeller chamber would drain to the total system level but the fuge will maintain the water level equal to the main overflow back into the display. This automatically insures that the heater and the contents of the fuge are always submerged.

This is a great thread and given my interest, time for a bump.

Anyone ever convert a bio wheel to a refugium?

Actually thinking of just using it to house feeder shrimp off the back of the tank.

Thoughts, ideas, suggestions welcome!
