Lightbulb Building my first Reef Aquarium.

GlaringToast and myself began creation of this reef aquarium. Im going to make this Thread with pictures from start to current of how Toast made the amazing rock wall and the overall growth of the tank. the first pic should be the craigslist add for the 60 gallon. at the time it was a planted tank i suppose.

Hello, ive been working a lot on my tank and running into problems, Tank is ready to be filled, but the glass co. cut my center brace about half an inch too long. My LR and live sand is orderd and will be here on wednesday! No word from Toast.

The first picture is when we took the tank outside to rinse it off after drilling it.

The second picture is my plumbing. The open ends are coverd with caps drilled and fitted with rigid airline tubeing, wich cuts down on gurgeling.

The next pic is when we first started on the rock wall. then a close up of the rocks and skimmer box, wich split when the foam expanded

Heres more, when the skimmer box split I zip-tied it all back together and refoamed it.

I sanded the one wall once then took the next pic

The full wall looks pretty cool. IMO

The skimmer box was a pretty creative idea by Toast

The skimmer box needed some fine tuneing and I had to Redo some plumbing. also hung my lights and made some baffels for my sump to prevent so many bubbles in my DT. Toast drilled my 20 gallon for a test and now im thinking about makeing a fuge out of it. Hope to get my cycle started by the end of next week, then its time for my CUC. Its good to be back in the REEF!

Finally back on the net. Took these retards forever to get me connected. What's the status on the tank? I am without a tank as all my livestock died. Very long story but my car broke down on the way over here and things didn't quite go my way. Somehow the aquarium store here actually has saltwater so once I get a full check from work I'll be starting another tank.

Looks like some of the sand came off of the rock wall or maybe the flash on the camera points it out more? Not sure. Anyway let me know what's going on.

Thanks! They Sure do cover my over flows. They fit together like a puzzle. Took some fine tuneing but it works great. stays in place yet easy to remove. Not sure what ill do with that part now Maybe make it into a cave. that would be very neat.
