hello echotech,
we would like a temporary moon phase graph until the company comes out with a moon phase program. This would inhibit spawning in our tanks. |

Hi Jon, what type of corals do you keep under your graph?
I've got an Elos 70 with 2 Radions. I have a mix of 14k and 20k presets on a 12 hour day ramping up from blue and down to blue with a 6 hour period in the middle of the day at 83%. A lot of my SPS are losing color or turning brown but my chalices and LPS in the lower part of my tank are doing fine. I just got rid of the 14k and I'm running only 20k at 83%. I'd love to try your graph but is it strong enough for an SPS dominant tank? Thanks |

http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2003-05/eb/index.php "As prefaced above, and perhaps to the chagrin of many aquarists, the exact cues that are involved in mass spawning are not fully understood. Many aquarists erroneously believe that they will trigger mass spawning in their aquaria by putting a "moonlight" bulb above their tanks. Unfortunately, I fear this will not do much." "Unfortunately for aquarists whose corals likely came from many different reefs, the use of a moonlight, even if cyclically dimmed, will probably not have much of an effect in triggering mass spawns in a tank, even if the tank has been temperature controlled for seasonal cycles, and even if the corals are sexually mature and fecund." Tom Murphy categorizes moonlights in his article "Reefkeeping 101" as "Bogus Information." The current ecotech software can be programmed to run the LEDs as low as you want, 1w for example, for a moonlight, if you insist, but it's only for your viewing pleasure. Not coral spawning. And I, personally, think it's bad for the fish and corals to not have pure darkness at night to sleep/rest.

Rainmkr, what kind of tank do you have and how many Radions?
My SPS have been browning out and I'm afraid if I raise the intensity any more, I'll cook my LPS. I'd like to run at 20k as I like the color better. |

I have a graph in another thread in here, but it's just 3pm-11pm w/ 4-10pm at 100% 12k, and 3-4 and 10-11 as ramp up/down from 0%. I am happy so far. My SPS browned out initially too. But they are coloring up over the past couple of weeks. I actually started to see an improvement when I lowered my photoperiod from 8 hours at 100% intensity to 6 hours. I read somewhere that SPS can only absorb so much light at max intensity, and anything after they have absorbed all they can is too much/wasted. So if you just get the maximum they can handle, they will color up and grow the fastest. How long have you had your radions? I've had mine over 6 months now, and I think there is an adjustment period as well. I recently added the TIR lenses, so today my intensity is at 75%, but I plan on ramping back up to 100% over the next 5 weeks (5%/week). The person that I go to for advice, and whose Radion-Lit tank is my "goal" is AcroporAddict (Dave). He is running 6 radions over his 300g DD. Here is a video of the tank: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-HQo8MeIoDM

Ive had mine for 4 months now and cant seem to find a setting that my SPS like. Im getting a PAR meter in today and will take some readings and post them. Meantime i will try a higher peak intensity for possibly 4 hours to start and see how the corals react.

When I look at your graph it seems like the highest point of intensity is only around 50% overall. How can I increase the highest point closer to 100% intensity in the graph? |

double click the point you want to edit and then you can change intensity and color if you want

How do I change the start day and start night on Jon's graph. I want to use Jon's graph but want my start day at 12pm and my start night at 1am.

My new graph...
progressively increase to 20000K->18000K->14000K->12000K->10000K->12000K->14000K->18000K->20000K followed by the night light for full pleasure ! All temps from 20000K to 10000K, next from 10000K to 20000K run @ 100%. See attachment for graphs (.etg) & picture |

Jeffrey, you just grab the first and last marker and slide it over, or just change it in the box at the bottom left manually where it says start day and start night. Just make sure that if you shorten the day or night that you slide the next marker over or else you will lose it.

Any other graphs that can be shared for programming radions in artificial mode

Can someone just give me the simple step by step for programming two radions have been unsucessful for longer than i can add the hours or point me in the direction where there are specific directions for programming two thank you

Got my second radion coming today and I'm stoked. My first radion comes on at like 5am with white and red. I don't want a lunar phase of white. How do I make it blue? Also I want a longer ramp cycle to full intensity. How can I add points in the graph to change specific color intensities?

Hey Guys,
I created this Graph for my 20 gallon sps tank. I have a TIR lense, but below is what I am doing: Time - RB - B - W - R - G - B 7 AM - 25 - 5 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 15 8 AM - 50 - 25 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 15 9 AM - 30 - 10 - 0 - 0- 0 - 80 10 AM - 40 - 25 - 10 - 0 - 5 - 100 11 AM - 20 K @ 60% 12 PM - 18 K @ 81% 1 PM - 14 K @ 83% 2 PM - 12 K @ 75% 3 PM - 12 K @ 75% 4 PM - 14 K @ 83% 5 PM - 18 K @ 81% 6 PM - 20 K @ 60% 7 PM - 40 -25 - 10 - 0 - 5 - 100 8 PM - 50 - 25 - 10 - 0 - 20 - 40 9 PM - 30 - 15 - 0 - 0 - 15 - 25 10 PM - 30 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 15 - 15 11 PM - 10 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 10 - 10 12 AM - 6 AM - OFF My logic behind the graph was that from 1 PM - 5 PM I provide high PAR in the 12K - 14K range would should help with growth, where the rest of the spectrum is mostly in the blue range which should help with color. Let me know what you guys think. I would love some feedback. Here is what the graph looks like: Last edited by mooch1982; 10/21/2012 at 05:22 PM. |
