Turbelle Stream 3 Beauty of the Beast
Turbelle Stream 3 Beauty of the Beast
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjiwebQyo0w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWx3h8hcNNI Hello Roger, greetings from Hellas. I have use many Tunze Turbelle Stream pumps all over the years. I have a turbelle stream 6100 for almost 14 years. This pump is my father's legacy. Very durable pump but not a DC.I need DC pumps for battery backup operation. I 'm fond of using DC pumps connected with batteries.I hate UPS.UPS is not reliable. For this reason.i also have 4 turbelle stream 6105 connected with batteries for power safety.According to my honest experience,6105 pumps are not as durable as older models are. Of course,i have no problem,i soak in vinegar(overnight) all my pumps every 3 months. I need information about the new beast from Tunze. What is the working voltage of this beauty? Is it compatible with safety connector? Is this a BLDC Motor? Are we going to see a much more robust Turbelle Stream pump? Best regards, Nikolas Last edited by NHREASM; 05/26/2016 at 06:57 AM. |

Tonight on our Tunze GmBH YouTube channel a new walk through video will be online explaining how it works. It is 24V DC and BLDC means Brushless DC. That is exactly what this is, the most robust we have ever made, the parts are incredibly solid and very heavy duty that is why we are warrantying it for 5 years. Even the 6100 has flaws that this corrects, primarily no Thin Film or can capacitors which will only last so long and no hall sensor that can be misaligned or corrupted. The 6150 is also self cleaning and has a very good cooling as the water is pulled in from under the drive unit and passes the full length and out with the outflow.

I need one of these! I am very excited to try these out. I'm already thinking of a couple places to put them in my tank, one being hanging from the top of my eurobrace

They will be about $345 US and out in September. I don't think it will work from a Eurobrace as it has to be submerged, the cooling system works somewhat like a jet engine and the water is pulled through holes in the bottom. It can work upside down but the bottom has to be under water. It will work very well laid down on its side near the bottom.

I think it might work well with the steam 3, depending on how low it would need to be from the water line so that it doesn't create a whirlpool from the surface and pull in air bubbles. If that doesn't work I have some other ideas. Either way I do want to go back to tunze someday, I miss my 6105's.

That is pretty neat, I think that could work.
Here are two more videos showing the flow, a couple more will come soon- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UQzw5KNYhg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9C40KhgowRw

I'm questioning the leds on the device....a device that gets submerged in a tank with coraline, I can't be the only one seeing an issue there right?

It is possible this would be an issue but these lights only show when there is an issue or they are triggered to get a read out of months in use. They are otherwise invisible. If you had an issue and wanted a diagnostic report you would just need to clean the pump, it will still stop and do everything it should to prevent damage to the motor, this just lets you know the cause so you can address it and likely you would need to remove it anyway to view these lights since it would be behind rock work. We also expect the very high gloss polycarbonate will not be an easy surface for coralline to adhere to, I am sure it will but at a much slower rate than other surfaces in the aquarium.

Not to my knowledge and I would be cautious of anyone that is. They won't be out until September and it is far to early and production will start very slowly. While the packaging and almost all molds are ready, at least the first 100 pumps will be test ran for 2 weeks before they ship and with the long warranty we want to be absolutely sure they are perfect before they leave the factory. I do expect that they will launch on time but supply will be very limited until later in the fall.

2/3rd out of the box, 3/4" with a stronger outside magnet.

Aside from reliability, what are the differences in flow between this model and the older versions? Or has the new design only been about reliability?

It is quite different, I will link a couple videos we made at the show to demonstrate the flow and that it is very wide and still has considerable force so the pump is easily concealed. It is also very verstatile as you can use the deflector or run with jut a protective grid or leave the prop mostly exposed. The propeller is quite large and spinning at a lower speed. The focuses were reliability and silence, outside of some noise of moving water, the pump is virtually inaudible, their is no shaft, the impeller is levitated in a magnetic field. You will see in the wave video we get both a directional and wave flow at the same time, this is for a couple reasons, the main one being that off and on is not possible with this pump so we use 5% to 100%. It is not possible because a start up sequence to bring the impeller magnet into levitation takes a couple seconds so if stopped it cannot rapidly restart. Also, the impeller magnet is extremely strong and the coil has no distinct poles so it doesn't stop on a dime and instead decelerates and accelerates very smoothly. In the teardown video where you see me push the impeller in, that is not a physical contact resistance it is fighting the very strong magnetic fields.

No, the magnetic levitation requires a DC motor.

thanks for the info roger! Any idea which venders will be getting them initially? A 5 year warranty is incredible on anything electronic now a days.

Initially we had hoped to have them ready early September. So far all Interzoo products are on schedule except for the 6150. Before the board can start production everything has to work perfectly and fine tuning the sensitivity of the safeties as well as passing EMF filtering tests has yet to happen, after that is done it takes about a month to get the surface mount boards. All other parts even the packaging are now ready, but with no board we cannot start and at this time mid to late October seems the more probable release date.

Will these be able to be controlled by 3rd party controllers like the Apex
