Ya, they grab a mouthful of sand and sift it over their gills, keeping what the want to eat. They also eat prepared foods, mine LOVES NLS pellets. Hell come look at the LRS reef mix and the mysis and brine shrimp. The rest he just pecks at, but devours the pellets.

I really like his personality always wants to be friends with every other fish in the tank. The only PITA thing is you need to turkey baste the rocks and corals around the sand bed as he gets sand on them. But I don't mind he's such a cool fish. Oh they are a mid column fish not a bottom dweller sifter kind.

One other cool thing is they have a clear tail fin

i have had other sand-sifting gobies, and i hate when sand gets on corals and rocks.

i guess i will go with a clown goby

What i like about the Hector over the other sifters is they are not like a D9 dozer, they are delicate in everything they do.

There is a 20% off coupon so it was $400. It lasted longer than I thought it would. Last one I saw was on PEA for $3000. I almost purchased this one but read they think they can non reef safe.

Only rare in the trade.

Those of the genus are obligate corallivores.

Getting African fish here is not terribly expensive. Gems are relatively rare in their range and only come into the trade (legally) from Mozambique.

Sign up for notification....each morning you'll get a notice of 'possible' listings (not all make the cut, each day)

Silly question - where's this 20% off coupon? Did I miss a posting?
Thanks!

$450 + 20%, but it was a hybrid.

Still a pretty good price

Hybrids are a bit cheaper than full on Black Tangs.

When we bought our Black Tang from Kevin in Hawaii, I got a better price by saying if the Black was DOA, he didn't need to replace it with another Black, but a hybrid instead.
