Seaweed Clips hate me

OK, I never imagined a tiny clip would be so problematic to use.

Is there some sort of secret Ninja skill to figuring out how to open the clip in the right position to shove the piece of seaweed into the clip?

I tried to pry the clip up but it has so much suction you'd think it was glued on with super glue!

I've heard some people just use rubber bands but I'd hate to try and of the used rubber bands around here.....

huh? the ones Iv'e used look like "Chip Clips" and just open right up easily by squeezing the top two handles (the suction cup is usually on one of those said handles)

use a magnetic clip-- https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/veggi...gies-clip.html Suction cups fail too often.

Rubber band and a small rock.

The fish won't be afraid of it, and it won't go to waste floating around the tank.

I love the floating clip made by Omega One...if the suction cup fails I don't have to go fishing

I use the ones I found on flea bay that hang from the edge of the tank. Never have to get my hands wet. Just search for hang on nori clips. They make a few different lengths.

When I used to feed nori, I would use this as it's a more natural look.

LOL mcgyvr.....it is...I should probably take a pic..the 'clip part' dangles separately from the suction cup and the tank has euro-bracing which actually gives me several headaches. It is probably just as much an issue with the euro-bracing as it is the clip. Also, I'm not that tall so I finally pulled out a step stool so I could gain a better handhold on the clip.

Finally I used the edge of a longer fingernail and broke the suction. When I tried earlier to attach it without having the clip in hand, the seaweed was rapidly getting almost soggy. I ended up with a round messy ball of seaweed.

I think I may look at several of the better sounding options that folks have mentioned.

I use that one. works great. I cut nori into 1-2 inch wide strips and fold it 1-2 times. My foxface will tear it off the clip if I dont fold it.

I would use a clip or a magnet like mentioned above. With the rubber band/rock method you will eventually grow tired of reaching your hand in the tank every time you want to out more seaweed in the tank, or at least I certainly did.

Look into the innovative marine nori clip holder. By far the best one in my opinion, just a little more pricey

The ones I bought are attached to an acrylic hanger, so you don't have to ever reach into the tank. Cutting the nori in strips helps it from all getting pulled off the clip at once.

I just use a magfloat and after they eat what they can get to I just pull the magnet away and let some more food get out from behind the cleaner. After a day I just pull it away and they scramble after the floating bits.

I've never had a single problem with any of the cheapest chip clips you can find. Mine right now is completely covered in carolline algae.

I love this one. My tangs just riped the Nori out of the clips and then it just went to waste. Can't do that with these.

Have had tons of clips and they all hate me too. Literally best one I’ve ever found. This thing is AMAZING. Found on the bay.

The easiest way I've found to remove them so you can add more veggies or get out of the tank is to put your fingernail between the suction cup and the glass. It almost will immediately come free.

Also, I've tried a bunch of clips, and the way to make them last the longest is to open them only far enough to add a sheet of veggies to them and no wider as they will break this way.

Best of luck

hkgar - I'm going to try this one as well since my tang just rips the sheet to shreds and then large chunks go floating everywhere.

Thanks!

Thanks to everyone else for your input as well. We're studying a few others we may consider trying.

Been using the two little fishes magnetic version for years, works just fine. Reaching over and around the bracing on my new acrylic tank IS a pain, I'll grant you that. Oh and I did have to stack a KJ Magnetics magnet to the external half of the veggie clip for it to work on 1" walls.

Fold the nori sheet into a 1" 'wad' and make sure to press the clip into the nori. It'll stay put.
