Frag rock smells weird
So I ordered a ceramic crab holder, sort of shaped like a rock, and I was about to put it in my tank when I noticed that it smells pretty strongly like chalk? I’m not sure if it’s safe to put in there or if I should throw it out

You can try to put it into a bucket of fresh water for a day or two, and see if it still smells. If at any point it fouls the water, then toss it out. Generally though, for me, I wouldn't put anything that I'm not sure of into my tank... my two cents.

FWIW - chalk is calcium carbonate. Your reef cannot survive without it.
