Question Torch Coral Growth Pattern?

I have a frag of torch coral and was wondering what it's growth pattern is. right now i have it wedged in a piece of tonga branch and the stony part is surrounded by the rock. Does this coral grow out sideways, lengthwise, or will it figure out a way to grow no matter where it is?

I stuck mine in a hole like yours and it has done very well there. It looks like it may have split into another torch coral.

to elaborate, the stony part won't grow. If that's where you want it, it will do ok provided the right light and flow. jkdman is on the money about the growth
