Using 6500k T5HO bulbs and fixtures
Does anyone have any experience with using plant grow lights for coral growth?
Would 6500k bulbs benefit algae over corals? |

thanks guys...how is algae control with them? what about multiple bulbs? 6500k should be excellent for coral growth, but color would suffer. As long as algae didnt take over.

I've found that nuisance algae growth is related nutrient levels, not so much lighting. And remember if negative algae might react and prefer a full spectrum bulb, so will zooanthellae algae. As for color, if you run a 4 bulb system I probably wouldn't use one, 6 and 8 bulb yes, so you can add enough other bulbs to adjust or overpower the slight yellow look. It's nothing major though.
