Pi for dimming Cree star LEDs: Check my build list? Also questions.
I want to build a DIY LED lamp for a high tech planted aquarium, and have it PWM controlled for dimming with the Pi. Eventually I want to control as much as I can with the Pi on the tank, but starting with the light.
I am copying the LED setup that the AI Prime uses: Prime Freshwater » AquaIllumination® but upgrading to cree G3 instead of G2. Is there any reason I should stick with G2, I see the G2 are "up to" 1.5amp and the G3 are "up to" 2 amp. For drivers, do I have the right ones selected? 1.5 and 1 amp high voltage. How big of a power supply will I need? Build list: https://i.imgur.com/WYEH6fI.png I also want to put a temperature sensor on the heatsink to turn on/off and speed up a fan on the heat sink. I read something about a SCW driver to control this, can anyone give me some info on how that works?

Thats really up to you and how well you can heatsink them..
You can drive the G3's at 2A max (1500mA LDDs would be fine). The E2/E are 1A max so 1000mA LDDs or 750mA would be fine..

Also more of a FW question, but should I consider adding a cyan and/or a hyper violet in addition to the RGB LEDs I have? I have been looking at the spectrum for chlorophyll and it looks like a wide blue spectrum and wondering if they would help expand on that, or just be useless. Again, not a reef, FW planted.

You got me! Yeah, I used to frequent this site a bunch when I was reef keeping. I found reef central people seem to know what they are talking about on a much higher level than other sites. I asked on various planted communities and got a less of response and guidance than I was hoping for, many questions were unanswered. I hope that my chances of coming across someone here who has built a DIY light would be greater here.
So spectrum aside, the technical aspects of building a light are not that really different.
