Cutting slot in side of stand for Power outlet

I want to cut a slot in the side of my cabinet / stand for a 19” American DJ 100 Power outlet. (8 Plug) Will this infringe on the cabinet / stand integrity?
The stand is a Marineland Monterey 48 X 24 Stand. (120 Gallon)
I plan on mounting a Dart board to the side of the stand which will be my electronics cabinet. The cabinet / stand originally had an 8” space between the front and back. I glued a piece wood in between the space for mounting purposes. (The Lighter piece of wood) The Power outlet will be mounted to the inside of the Dart board cabinet. My concern is the Power outlet is five inches wide and the dart board cabinet is only 3 ½ inches wide. Therefore, I will need to cut a slot into the stand.
Thank You in advance for all your advice
Mike

According to the laws of physics if you make that cut out it seems to me like the stand integrity will definitely be in jeopardy. Mounting electrical equipment so close to water is also a problem. I would say try mounting it by the electronics cabinet that you are trying to do. Definitely do not cut out that portion of the stand. Remember that depending on the tank size your gonna have plenty of weight on there and your stand needs to be able to handle the weight. Is that a 70 Gal? I have a 70 gal and its roughly 700-900 lbs.

Can u mount it vertical? It will make the wires a little harder to configure so they aren’t in the way but I think u will be better off on the stand not cutting that wide of slot. If it was a little smaller then I would say it would be fine, but cutting a 19” slot on a 24” stand is only going to leave u 2” to 2.5” of wood left. That may still be ok but it’s hard to say without knowing exactly how the stand is designed. Most manufactured stands are built to the bare minimum to begin with.

Although it isn’t mounted inside of my stand I mounted mine vertical & it works fine for me. The only downside would be u would have to get creative to keep the wires from being all over the place. U can see it to the right of the stand in the pic

I agree, minimal design build, I would not cut that much out.
This is how I installed mine, might be a better idea for you.

Can you mount a board to the wall to the right?
All my electric except dosers are outside the stand.
