the tank was first, painting the back black, used the rubber grip stuff you dip your tools in, took only one can, came out thick as can be, two coats, and it will stay oon, it even gives grip for myself, and does supposedly is ok for the tank,

Looks Good. I'm glad someone finally fiished that stand. Putting a small clip on fan blowing across the sump will help. As for fans for the canopy regular old computer fans is what you want. Make sure you get ones that are quiet. They can be very noisey. All you need to power them is a power transformer(wallwart) It doesn't even have to be rated for 12v. The lower the voltage the slower and quieter the fans will be. I wouldn't go lower than 9v. Just make sure the amperage output of the transformer is higher than the amperage draw of the fans combined. You can buy a new transformer at radioshack or if you have some old electronics that have a dc power adapter will work.

i will try the clip on fan across the sump first, then in the canopy. with the canopy open it did not heat up at all, just got home and not heated, but when i close it...it heats up to about 84 or so...

Just be careful of the center support brace with MHs. We had a 72 gal bow and the halides dried the center support brace so bad that it broke out and the take became compromised. Just my experience Good luck, it looks like you have put a ton of work into it.

So were ours. I think the heat just got to be too much. Just something to keep an eye out for
