How do you cut the Xenia? I cut mine and it turns into a big slimy mess of Palytoxin. Mine is out of control but man it's scary to try to get it under control.

I think the best way to trim back xenia is to cut from the base with a sharp razor blade while it's in the tank. It you remove the rock, put it in a bucket of tank water and then cut. It usually slimes when you try to handle it outside of water.

I have a really long scissor like widget so I can cut them clean. It just seems as soon as they are cut they go into total slime mode. I think I need to have a hose to suck them into as I cut them to keep them from fouling tank.Ill try that on next water change.

I have used the razor blade method after watching a few youtube videos. But it is tough, and aways leaves a little behind on the rock, and makes your hands stink. I glued a couple of penny sized monti pieces which broke off directly onto the rock, anyone know how I can remove them?

If your trying to get rid of it it will just grow back that way. To remove it I grab the base tightly with my tweezers then I roll the tweezers and peal it off the rock. Some time I have to roll it the other way and sometimes it just slips out. I can remove around 90% of them this way.and they do not grow back.

Can you post a photo of the tool you were saying you use to cut the Xenia? Thanks!

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I tried tweezers and that seems to be a much better way to do it. You just twist them off. Like spaghetti on a fork. These might be an option https://www.amazon.com/Double-Curved.../dp/B017TGD4YQ
