Elegance Coral: Spawning or dieing?

My elegance coral started acting funny a few days ago. For 2 days he looked ****ed and seemed to be oozing semi-clear slime. The slime looks clear but when I look close I can see very small white dots. I thought he was done for. The 3rd day he started to puff back up but his tentacles were not expanding. The 4th day he was back to oozing. Today he looks almost swollen but again his tentacles are not expanding at all.

Has anyone experienced this before? If it is not dieing can I plant the eggs somewhere in the tank to develop? Any ideas help.

Thanks guys.

In my experiance with elegance corals I would assume the worst, but a picture sure would help to make a realistic judgement
