Np and thank you very much. I found my tri-pod, so let me know if anyone wants to see close-ups of anything else in the tank. Otherwise, I'm goin on a freestyle photo-shoot frenzy.

Hi purpleup - What kind of fish is that in the last couple pictures. Looks like it has pink lip stick on!

Well great now you have gone and made me dislocate my jaw, I need to wear a chin strap when I cruise through RC!

Very cool tank, I must ask you though, why do you use Lugol's solution? what are the pro's and con's of this supplement? Or is it just a way of adding iodine to your tank.
Also what type of coral is that red chalice, do you know the genus or family name? matt

mhhauser321, I use Lugol's to supplement iodine. After a few weeks of cautious use, I've already noticed improvement in the growth and color of one of my struggling zoa colonies. One definite con of this supplement is my inability to test iodine levels in the tank. I understand that it is quite easy to OD.
I don't know the genus of my red chalice. Can anyone else help? |

PurpleUP, congratulations on a spectacular BC14! I just started mine yesterday and if it turns out half as nice as yours I'll be ecstatic. It's great to see what's possible in a nano. Do you have any pics from earlier in your nano's development?

chirocato, i think he was inquiring about the encrusting red coral next to the turbinaria. still not even sure if that's a chalice.

Ooops. Sorry everyone. Missed it. I see it now. Nice piece too! Looks like a chalice to me too. Got me on what type though.

This one's for Yedgy. It's the earliest pick I have at 28 days old. As you can see, I dared to stock it pretty early but *mostly* everything has survived and continues to prosper...

I recently mounted my Coralife Hang On to the upper cabinet. It allows the tank to be COMPLETELY accessible from the top. I also tucked away my ATO reservoir tank, fan, and misc wiring in the cabinet. *Electrical wiring extending down from the cabinet prevents electric shock if water accidentally spills from the tank. My wife hasn't yet noticed that I removed the door. shhhhh.
Having the tank totally clear of obstacles makes it easier to take shots like this... BTW, these corals have been growing like wildflowers. I'm upgrading only the tank to a larger JBJ 24DX next week. But I'll be using the same lighting and pump system, so the essence of it will remain the same. Soon I'll have MORE ROOM FOR CORALS. Last edited by PurpleUP; 09/23/2007 at 05:34 PM. |
