I'm new to nems, but I'll agree with your hunch of it being bleached. Feed him and give him light...make him happy

Good luck Getting it healthy. Hopefully you didn't pay a lot for a bleached anemone.

I'm sure the OP will appreciate your recommendations on how to go about nursing it back to health...oh wait, that must have gotten edited out.

Maybe Skullv will have a sec to chime in.

Looks fine to me.....I guess I don't see any mention its a RED BTA. There are white versions such as this. Just take care of it as you would any other BTA.

whether or not it's bleached, and I believe it may be, it still is alive and can easily be taken care of presuming your tank is established and parameters are good.

Feedings once or twice a week with small meaty foods like mysis will help. Do not feed large portions as small bits are easier for your nem to digest.

Be prepared for it to move around, even hide for a while, until it acclimated itself to your system

Best of luck

There is absolutely positively no such thing as a white BTA. The photo you posted is of an unhealthy GBTA. They are white web they expell their zooxanthelle due to poor water conditions or poor lighting.

OP the best thing you can do is feed it little bits of meaty food every other day. Th best things to feed are finely chopped RAW table shrimp, Mysis shrimp, or krill. Stay away from silversides as try have a tendency to go bad in the pet store freezer. Also LEAVE IT ALONE. If it wants to move let it. It knows where it wants to be and will find that spot. Just make sure to cover all your power heads. With a couple months in the right conditions and a little luck your nem should be back on the path to health and vibrant color.

may we ask how old your system is OP?....
by the looks of your photo, your rock appears to be newly introduced dry rock....might this be a new set up?

edit: nevermind....just found (and read) your new build thread.....GL with the nem
