Maybe pulling the trigger on an achillies. I have a 180 reef with a smaller purple tang and a smaller powder brown. I planned on getting one around the same size as the other two and making a long acclimation box so he can go in there for a few weeks. I figured the other two will try and pick a fight with it. This way if they try nothing will happen . Think this will work?

So my achilles tang appears to have stopped eating Seaweed and now prefers mysis, brine shrimp and oyster feast. Is it normal for them to become finicky with their diet and temporarily change tastes or should I be concerned? He hasn't lost weight, not diseased and not skinny. He is swimming quite well.

I had an Achilles for about three years and lost him a year ago. He had some kind of stroke and was only able to track food on his left side.
I picked up another yesterday and have him in my qt
He is only about three inches long.
At this time my powder blue is about five inches long and my clown is seven.
My tank is 60x32x24.
I will put The Achilles in my 75 gallon sump in a few days and either put egg crate up as a divider for a bit or catch the two larger fish with my fish trap or net and move the larger fish in the sump for a bit.

If he's not scratching on the rocks, it looks like copepods.

I finally got tank big enough for either a powder blue or achillies. Is there a consensus on which is more aggressive to non tang tank mates? I have a copperband, a Choati leopard wrasse, and a couple angels and I don’t want to chance losing them.

Thanks. I知 planning for one of the other. I知 more curious about how they interact with other types of fish besides other tangs

Both have been fine with other fish - yellow tang, melanarous wrasse, pair of clowns, royal gramma, and anthias.

In a previous setup I had a PBT that was fine with tankmates until I introduced a six line wrasse. The PBT chased the wrasse tirelessly until the wrasse dove into the rocks never to be seen again. After that the PBT returned to being a model citizen.

I wish you luck. Will probably be rough with the clown and powder blue already established. I think you値l end up having to pull the established ones for a while
