Agree with the previous poster, this thread is for the ATI Powermodule/LED unit. Let's leave the LED ain't all that rhetoric for the 100s of other threads on this forum. OP, I would encourage you to report any future posts to this regard so this thread stays on topic.

Hey Rodney, how is it so far after 2 weeks? I'm looking to buy the exact same one when it's out in Canada!

Thanks.

Took some spectrum readings of the light last night, interesting to find these results. In both tests the benchmark line is 8x54w T5 tubes (B,W,B,A,B,P,W,B)

First chart shows all T5 and all LED - the addition of the LEDs give a massive kick in the blue

This chart shows just 4 T5 tubes on and LED - interesting to see how intense the light is with half the tubes running, apart from coverage potentially only need to run this setup and save power on the full 8 tubes running

Wow, looks fantastic!

I'm adding a 4x54w Sunpower to my two 76W buildmyled.com LED strips, I hope my results are half that good!

Lol Mike, my sig is a joke for a mate who always gets something new and gives it a 200% rating then changes it weeks down the line when his tank doesnt magically improve by the same 200% rating

Light is going well so far, im really liking the look of the light output, kinda hard to explain but its got the really bright look of T5 but the clarity of LED...not the typical flat type look in a normal T5 fixture.

Just got the 48in 4xbulb on Thursday! Craftsmanship is excellent. What bulb configuration is everyone recommending? My previous tank was halide, and this will be my first experience with both LED and T5s.

Tech specs aside, the controllability of the LEDs is incredible. Aesthetics are a big part of the hobby for me, and the potential for some really "cool" sunrise/set effects is very exciting.

Can someone make a ATI led light recommendation for a 90g 48 X 24 X 18 tank? going to be mostly sps, not sure if the 36' or the 48 4 bulb makes more sense...thanks

Mark

48" 4 bulb. That way you can go to a 60"tank down the road if you ever wanted and 48" bulbs perform better than 36" bulbs.

It has super blue, royal blue, red and white LED so you can program a moon cycle.

Though it isn't a power module, I am EXTREMELY happy with how the 4x54 power module looks in combination with my 2x76w buildmyled.com strips. I know what you mean about brightness and clarity, and it is hard to describe. Its almost like the tank is a movie, and I switched from 480 to 1020. More contrast, more color, more fluorescence, and VERY bright. Despite how bright and sharp the LED and T5 combo looks, it isn't harsh at all.

I'm not sure it'd come across well in photos either, but I'll try my best to get some later this week.

Hey Rod,
I was wondering what your light schedule is.
I've been thinking about selling my soul among other things (j/k) and when I move out west here pretty soon setting up a new, larger tank with one of these fixtures.
I know the T5's can dim but I figure I would use the LEDs the most & only use the T5 bulbs for the midday boost for maybe 4 or 5 hours a day, hoping to keep the T5 bulb changes down to the minimum, hopefully get 15 months (or more)out of them...I'm hoping...hoping the LEDs are fairly capable on their own, etc.
What are you finding, doing & enjoying the most?

I'm officially jealous of all hybrid club members. .. There, I got that off my chest. I feel better now. My wife said I can get one when my car is paid off in september... ugh! That's like 6 months out. What a sexy fixture. WORTH EVERY PENNY IMHO NOW. I so dislike my doctor buddy at the moment. Pics and videos do no justice to these fixtures. .. it's like seeing Shakira in a video then seeing her in person at the forum shops... WOW!

You have gotta hand it to ATI for stepping up to the plate and taking the lead on hybrid. Big risk for them in risking it on a hybrid when the popular perception was that LED was everything to everyone.

I remember reading about the hybrid while I was jumping on the LED bandwagon with a high end German made LED fitting and thinking they were just trying to protect their T5 market but I have since learned through some expensive experience, they were on the money.....

It was rumored a while back that ATI would also be selling the LED modules that should be bolt on ready for those of us with existing ATI fixtures. I believe it was stated that we would just have to remove a bulb or 2 and the reflectors, then the leds could be cleanly retrofitted in.

Just a rumor, or I may be losing it? Anyone else hear about this? I've gone the route of attaching reefbrites, but would love a cleaner look.

Hope I didn't take the thread off track. Your light is beautiful and I look forward to hearing more about its performance. Someday I will hope to join the ATI hybrid club!

After researching mine for a similar tank, I believe the 4 bulb 48' would be a ton of light, especially because the 48 inch model has a third LED fixture.

I was thinking about running 2 of the 36" fixtures over my 72" tank just to get the dimmable T5s. Can you point me to a discussion about why 36" bulbs don't perform as well as other lengths?

If dimming the T5's is what you want then get 2 36" fixtures otherwise the 60" model will cover a 72" tank marvelously.

It seems the 39w bulbs are just a in between length that isn't quite as good performance wise as the 24" & 48". Just a theory but the 36" bulbs may run a little hotter. I really wouldn't worry about it, its only us number chasers.

Would you like to share the basis of your theory?
