Reefshoy- I guess it would depend on how many PBs u use. They shimmer but are pretty focused in terms of spread. What size tank do u have?
chris, thanks to you and sunnyx, I'm ordering a custom built 48x24x20h 3 sided starfire rimless with a glass=hole overflow so i can save real estate for corals. i'm considering all t5's (that's what i'm using now) or going halides but i'd use 2x150watts and 2x54 t5's. haven't comitted to the lights yet. i also ordered a oceanic tech stand for it and that should come in today. as far as main equipment goes i have,
1. a pair of tunze 6100's with controller and 2 korellias 4's (will upgrade that later)
2. bubble king mini 200 skimmer
3. ca reactor
4. home made kalkreactor
5. home made ato
6. aquadoser 3 channel
7. 30 gal sump
8. ro 6 stage
9 deciding between aTI 8x54, aquatinics 7x54, aquamedic 2x150w+2x54t5's, or giesmann 2x150+2x54w t5's. i am leaning towards all t5's cause i love the colors that t5's bring.

this is the danger of reading RC when you already have a tank! damn you and sunny! i told my wife it's your's and sunnyx fault! I will be starting a thread when i begin setting up the tank. Mabye we'll be considered the three amigos or three stooges on RC! lol

This thread actually had me order almost the exact same tank although I went with 20" tall. I'm curious how you like the T5s also. I have an 8 bulb on Icecap 660s waiting to go on the tank when it finally shows up.

rhop - Thanks bro!

Hoodrat - No pics yet. The look is definitely different than the T5s. I am hoping to get the same or better colors than before.

Reefsahoy - Sounds awesome! Looks like your off to a good start. I'm really tempted to get a bubble king. Any particular reason for the Tunzes? Why not 6105s or vortechs? I look forward to seeing the progression. Who did u order the tank thru?
In regards to the MH vs T5, its to early to tell. Things are just now starting to adjust to them. Only time will tell. Sorry I couldnt give u definite answer. I just don't feel comfortable recommending them yet.

Broke - Congrats on the tank! Check out what I wrote above.

If the ATB is working well for you why get the Bubble King? I just wish I could afford 1 decent skimmer!

Nothing against the ATB, but I was just expecting better in terms of construction. If I get some extra cash i am definitely gonna get he BK just to see what i am missing. If I'm paying around the same price, why not get the best possible.

I love the bubble king! best damn thing i ever bought for the tank. the tunzes i already have in my current tank. I ordering the tank thru a local builder. I went to see the quality of his work and it's impressive to say the least. Right now i have a tek fixture 6x54 on a standard 90 gal and the colors are pretty nice. I've never had halides but like everyone else, like the shimmer but don't want to deal with heat and chillers so debating if it's worth changing or just staying put. I'm really leaning to the t5's though. i like the sleek look above the tank, cool running fixture and the colors of the corals that they produce. I may incorporate some bright LEDs and when using the morning and evening t5s turn on the LEDS for some shimmer. I will order the tank on fri and i believe it will take 3 weeks to build.

Took a vid of my sump. Running the skimmer a little wetter than normal. Looking good though.

Hey Chris, my name is Mike. I have been following your thread from the start. amazing system you have going. I saw that you were talking about going to jason's and talking about the Grinch and aquaman. I also go to jasons around once a month " I think we are talking about the same person in MD". You said you lost yours? I am been nursing both of mine for about 3 months now and i cant seem to get any improvment or growth. they are still hanging on but man they looked so nice in jasons tank! I think he is also having issues with both of them now too. what do you think happend to yours?

The sock on the skimmer doesn't look like it is necessary. I love your setup though!!

Mjstover - Thanks!!! We are definitely talking about the same person. I have no clue what happened to mine. they were doing fine at first and then just started to recede. I lost them both.

Ian - At east u still have them. I really miss them both. I need to get them again.

Scary - Thanks! The skimmer was producing some micro bubbles that were getting into the tank. It was very annoying so that is there temporarily. I'll take it off soon. Just wanna make sure the skimmer is completely broken in.

Rik - Glad urs is doing good. Its a pretty sweet piece.

Ahhh, you know I thought of that after I had already posted. Are you getting a ton of skimate production?

You're narrowing in on a thread split! congrats!

Keep up the great work! My eyes are enjoying it.

Scary - The skimmer is doing a fantastic job. I actually lowered the level inside the skimmer yesterday to get a little bit drier.

I look forward to getting my tank into shape. My corals are still not looking well although everything checks out and is pretty stable. Enough about me though this is your thread! I just thought you might like to see the new skimmer.
