One idea for using space under the tank might be to enclose a separate space for controllers and other electronics so they aren't directly exposed to high humidity levels.

Looking at the drywall idea, that support pillar will bump right up on the corner. Not sure how to handle it, or if I like it.

Father and daughter bonding time over power tools. Fairly sure she thinks I'm crazy.

Cutting the holes in the external overflow. Bulkheads are huge, max flow won't be an issue..

Progress. So happy, made a 4 walled box with 3 holes.

35" of weir cut and welded together. Coast to coast the short way. Using the board to make sure tank edge is very straight. Making attaching it with Weld On 4 super easy. Used a router and sand paper to match the edges.

Listening to some tunes, thinking about what's next. View of the tank lying down on the couch. One day...

Primer and siliconed like crazy.

DCT 15000 tested, insane flow.

Plumbing 1.5" is a new experience, my cutter doesn't fit. Just going to use the table saw.

If you have a chop saw and the cheap blade it came with that is great for the PVC cutting. Looking good!

Thanks, winging it so far. Thinking of putting the rest together inside the tank. Have a feeling it'll soon reach the point of being tough to move.

I ordered a some PVC pieces to connect the return pump. Waiting on that to start on the plumbing.

Mini to do list:

1) Finish rock work. Phase one. Enough to get the tank going. Tired of taking care of everything manually in the 40g breeder.

2) Polish the tank. About that time.

3) Attach weir and external overflow.

4) Divide and modify sump. Cut out part of the Eurobrace for a larger final skimmer.

5) Plumb and fill!!

6) Mount lights. Hydra 52 and HO T5.

7) GFCI repair and electrical. Multiple circuits in the area. Even an unused 220 designed for a dryer. Splitting equipment across as many as possible. So one breaker trip alone won't be fatal. Battery backup needs to planned. Seems like power outages are common out here.

8) Final cabinet work, design, canopy and rock work. Phase two.

9) Throw a party?

Just walked downstairs. Noticed powder blue just hanging out low in the corner. Let the dogs out and went to check. Looked pale, lethargy and by looking at the fins and one spot on his body. He swam into the Magnifica. Upon inspection the Mag had 5 damaged tentacles. Anyway, damage was done. Tried to isolate but already too late. Within 10 minutes already dead. So close to his new home after 1000 mile road trip effectively two tank moves. RIP.

He was swimming poorly bouncing off of everything then passed shortly after. I had him isolated, passed few minutes after. Didn't want to fed the nems, way too messy given the situation. Anyway, going to get some help and move the project along a bit. Very least get everyone moved in sooner than later. Going to test run with tap water to get rocks clean, and get things moving along. With live rock in great condition, should be able to bypass a cycle.

Attached internal/external overflow.
I love weld on 40! No half measures, that overflow isn't coming off.

Painted the back wall, layed out the drain plumbing ready to be glued together.

Didn't like the Novus polishing set, would take 3 days straight with their setup. Stealing some techniques from the automotive polishing world for clear coat to speed things along.

So polish, final rock setup, then test with freshwater.

Why am I doing this again? Insanity...

This site lays down a process close to what I'm doing. Given the large surface areas inside and out, very slow and painstaking.

Anyway, about 50% polished, technique nailed down, all equipment needed in hand, I'll post pics when done. Every pane had deep scratches inside and out. Outside easy, inside not so much. Some of the previous multiple owners damage can't be repaired, expected as much.

Got 1/2 the rock situated in the tank, once I hit 3/4 rocks, test fill to test plumbing and more photos.

Magnifica pedestal is looking great assembled inside.
