I finally moved the stand up to my house. Things were delayed while my in-laws were in town for my wife's birthday. There has not been any new work on the stand other than adding 3 coats of Waterlox as the finish.
Hopefully I will have time to stain the doors and get them on soon. I will also be working on the plumbing (or begging for help) over the next two weeks.

What kind of sump are you putting in, if any at all?

A 40 long sump and a 29g frag tank if I can make it all fit to my satisfaction.

Here are a few new toys that will be used in the setup.

First my new i-Tech 200 skimmer modded from the manufacturer with an internal pump. It might be a little overkill, but I'll need it to help cope with the feeding for the NPS tank.

And I finally forked out the $$ for a Vortech.

This little beauty resulted in this conversation.

Wife: Is this the thing that cost $200?

M3: Yes

Wife: What's it do?

Me: Swirl the water around in the tank.

Wife (shaking her head): Come on, let's go.

Me: Where are we going?

Wife: Shopping

Me: Ok, dear. We'll even go look at shoes if you want.

Do to work M-F and family time on weekends, I don't get to work on it as often as I should.
That being said, I am supposed to have a reef club meeting at my house in about 6 weeks. So it looks like it is time to get moving.

All the openings you see will be covered with doors. There is no real need to add structural support since it is actually three individual stands tacked together. The stand is way more than stable enough.

No real updates yet. Life has gotten in the way (wife out of town, playing Mr. Mom, lighting struck the house, and the next day the AC went out) and things have not progressed as I hoped. I worked on the canopies today and they should be skinned and stained tomorrow. Then I have to wait three days before coating them in Waterlox.

I did get the sump in and decided that a frag tank wouldn't fit. After a lot of cussing the plumbing was finished as well, until I leak tested it and let's just say it didn't pass inspection. And the leaks aren't in places that I can cut out and repair so a large chunk of the plumbing has to be redone.

Frustrating, but what can you do?

The tank on the left is a macro tank with some anemones, corals, and a pair of orange-spotted filefish.
The center tank is home to a frogfish, and a couple NPS corals with more to come.
The tank on the right houses some LPS, zoas, a carpet anemone, and a few small fish.

No pics of the plumbing, but the sump is a 40 long with all three returns plumbed into it and a Snapper returning water to all 3 tanks. An i-Tech 200 skimmer and carbon in a reactor are the only other filtration in the sump.

And here are pics of my birthday presents from my wife...

Within 30 minutes these misbar / Gold Flake GSM's were in the malu anemone and the little guy was doing the submissive shake to her.
It's always awesome to see clowns take to an anemone, especially tank-bred clowns moving in so quickly. So if things stay on track I will be lucky enough to have two GSM's pair up without aggression and find their host within a 1/2 hour of being in the tank.

Thanks, Ted. It is actually Dylan's birthday tomorrow and my birthday on the 26th. Michelle gave them to me today since she had no place to put them once she picked them up.

They are a misbar Gold-Stripe Maroons often called Gold Flake Maroons. They were bred by Jonathan at Fisheye Services Aquaculture whom we were talking about at the meeting at your house.
