Vibrant dosing and Hair Algae

I’ve just recently started to dose with Vibrant to address Hair Algae or what I think is HairAlgae. First dose was last Thursday. Second dose today. The plan is to dose every three days (eg twice a week). In the system I also run Rowaphos and an internal filter.

Currently Phosphates are 0.02 0.03 (Red Sea Test Kit ) I can’t get them any lower even with Rowaphos

Thanks. Fingers Crossed it’s the right decision. Whilst I’ve seen good press for Vibrant, I’ve also seen the equivalent bad press. It’s a risk but one of desperation.

When posting pictures for identification purposes turn the blue channel of your light off or way down.. All of that blue light doesn't allow proper color rendition and thats important for identification. All that blue also typically doesn't allow your camera to focus properly as evident by your pictures..

Hi, I would follow the recommended directions on the bottle , which is once per week for the first month, then you can increase your dosage after that. Nothing good happens in this hobby when you rush things.

Things appear to be going in the right direction with algae receding. I’m going to slow the dosing down to once every two weeks and try to keep it as a maintenance dose

Your phosphate numbers are fine and in the recommended levels, not going to get much lower, it's hard to get a definitive answer with tests when they are very low,and you don't want to strip out all the phosphates or corals will suffer...

If you leave Rowa in too long, it may mop up all phosphates, and the positive test inaccurate.

Nitrates?
This too can be a contributor and should be kept in the 2-5ppm range for corals.

Well, Vibrant! I have to say that I’m not disappointed in the use of Vibrant. Now dosing weekly. Hair algae non existent. Corals doing well with Zoas replicating. Clean up crew surviving including snails and Tuxedo urchin. At the moment no complaints.

I'm glad to hear that it seems to have helped.

Dang. I've been dosing for 2 months now, and my hair algae problem is getting worse, if anything.

Did you dose every three days, at first, like you'd said? A full dose?
