Ran into a cabinet making problem with my new build.

I am hoping for some help, suggestions, or solutions to my current problem.

I have built my stand using 1/2" (5ply) plywood. All the corners are butt joined, glued and screwed into 1/4"deep rabbits. Anyway strong as steel, no concerns there.

Problem is, I have door openings cut into the stand that are 22" tall by 16.5" wide. I hand built with 100 year old boards mortise and tenon rails and Stiles, and used 5/16" t&g pine to fill in the centers... the doors are made 24x18.5" 1 inch full around bigger then the openings... problem is my openings leave about 1.5" to the corners, I planned to use full overlay euro hinges, however they need to be mounted to the walls of the stand (which isn't possible)... there is only 1/4" from the edges of the doors tothe trim and casing so I can't really use surface mounted hinges... Any suggestions? Doors and trim are 3/4" thick.

Could you just add a couple of plywood blocks inside the stand where the euro hinges are to be mounted? If I'm picturing it right, that would give you the thickness needed for them.

Lol... thanks guys, unfortunately those hinges are no longer an option... as the lower hinges hit my glass sump... so it will have to be magnets...I will use a small strip of wood to hold the door up and centered, send magnets in the corners.

What size tank is this? 1/2" ply seems a bit undersized for a bigger tank.

35g. Though I would have no concerns with 100g on it

These plates somehow go flat to the back of the face frame and hinges extend out..

AFAICT.

That place has literally dozens of Euro style hinges..I'm pretty sure you will find one to work as long as you have some clearance from your sump..

The sump literally is 1/4" away from the back of the ply wood...

I have the doors hung now, just using magnets.

It does sit flush, but the white pieces holding the glass in also serve as light blockers, without them it would bleed, with them 0 bleed.
