Advice/ideas on fuge overhaul
My tank has been up about a year... I didn't know anything really about plumbing a tank up..sumps..or fuges... just that I wanted a fuge..
I've got a 90 gallon dt.. it drains down to a 46 gallon bow front tank I had..and that's my fuge.. ton of rock and algae... more gha than cheato lol Anyways.. I wanna change some things.. turn the 46 into a 3 chamber sump/fuge.. First chamber will be for an upflow ats coming off of the drain pipe.. And a sediment chamber for whatever and for skimmer Second will be the fuge Then return pump chamber I'm looking for ideas for sealing the panels in.. I don't have a spair sump or anything to run.. and I'm hard plumbed in.. So silicone isn't much of an option.. because I would really need to get it back online the same day.. And 100 percent sealed isn't that big of a deal..just mostly sealed.. I have a few ideas.. Some reef epoxy and super glue.. Or maybe some weatherstripping (not sure if it is reef safe though) And both ways utilize the tapering effect of the bow front tank.. so rock will pin the panels tight helping with the seal Any ideas or suggestions are more than welcomed Sent from my SM-S907VL using Tapatalk |

Forget it...do it right or dont do it..
Your tank can survive just fine while you tank the sump out of service and build it properly.. So take this as a chance to take it down/clean really well,etc...then use proper materials and techniques to construct it properly...or get another tank to build into a sump

I've been trying to figure out a way to use a different tank.. I've got a 50 gallon Rubbermaid storage tote that might fit.. or I could buy another tank for the mean time.. but trying to avoid wasteful spending.. (I don't have a spare tank large enough for the amount of live rock I have in the fuge Sent from my SM-S907VL using Tapatalk |

I want to turn the fuge into a xenia fuge..
Any suggestions on how to clean and scrub the rock of gha... but not kill too many critters? Maybe scrub everything out in a 5 gallon bucket.. and then dig and rescue what I can? Or any suggestions on getting some of the other species of xenia? I seen some pretty neat and colorful ones on youtube.. looking at xenia fuges.. Sent from my SM-S907VL using Tapatalk |
