looking great........., I have been dosing ESV on a tripple doser but it is so expensive, i think I will try the bulk reefsupply and see how it goes.........Yeah it is a pretty good mix of dry rock from Marco Rocks and a few cherry picked pieces of Tonga I have a real nice top flat area for SPS and then a lot of shelves low for lps, tank has been up for like 4-5 months now and doing great.......any ideas what you are going to pt in the fuge.....just chaeto? or are you going to get some cooler showier macros? I need to set up my fuge and I want to get some cool macros.

Cham, on that last picture of your sump, what keeps the purple flow from going down the drain (emergency drain - green line)?

Gravity.

The side that goes to the tank has water standing in it. I allow a small slow trickle from the tank down that line to keep the water from going nasty.

The new waterchange water cannot go uphill.
What you can't see is that the line goes vertical right after that bend.

What do you have on your tank, a Mercury?

Drains are working great. As I anticipated, micro bubbles are the biggest issue. Filter sock fixes it but I'd like to find a way without them to eliminate that added maintenance if I can.

My fuge has WAY more flow ability than I'd ever want it to have. I have to keep the ball valve 3/4 closed to slow the water down enough. Keep in mind, the fuge drain is just a bulkhead at the bottom of my overflow box. There is no stand pipe.
Are you sure you will be getting 2000 gph out of the snapper?

And sorry for not remembering, but are you running a OM on the tank for random flow or just static outputs from the pump/

I have around 5500 gph in my 60 g cube, and sometimes I think that is not enough.

lol.
An unseen side effect to having my sump in the garage is some unexpected company.

I walked out to my garage this morning and found this making a B line for the first chamber in my sump. Apparently he was attracted to the sound of falling water (I know nothing about crayfish) because he headed straight for it. I've never had one in my garage before.

I do live on a lake that is full of them.

He was deperately trying to get into my sump.

Tell him to go get about 20 lbs. of his buddies and then get yourself some crab boil, a few ears of corn, some new potatoes and a few cold beers and have yerself a feast!!

Suck the heads, eat the tails!!! I love me some crawdaddies!!!

The pond behind my house is PACKED full of them. just beyond that pond is a swamp conservation area that backs up to the second largest lakes in Florida. I'm pretty sure the swap area is where they are coming from.

You can walk the shores and see hundreds of claws.

But in 6 years since this house was built I've never seen one in my garage.

An alligator yes, crawdads no.
