the 1700g stingray reef

i have the honor of being the first person to photograph the 1700g stingray reef. the owner asked me not to identify him but is allowing me to post these picture here on reef central. i feel this is one of the biggest honors i could be granted. seeing this reef is amazing! there is no other word to discribe what i saw. the pictures im posting here will not do any justice to the beauty of this eco system he has painstakingly created in his beautiful house. i must note that this person is not a millionare with tons of cash to throw around. he is one of the nicest people you would ever meet though. he was very willing to share his beautiful system with me and my family.
he has had fish tanks and salt water aquariums for most of his life. when he designed this system it was with the intent of having some of the most diverse livestock you could imagine. at some point in time he will answer peoples questions. but right now he wishes to be nameless. he is a busy man and does not have alot of time to answer questions right now. so if you know of this person please respect his wishes and leave him namless until he has time to answer any questions. but in the near future he might be able to answer a few questions.
the system starts off with a 1700gallon main display tank. yes 1700 gallons in one tank. then there is 4-5 other tanks that are sumps, sponge tanks, and such. i think he has some where around 2200 gallons total in the system.
the tank is 15 feet long by 5 feet wide and 33 1/2inches tall.
it has so many different types and sizes of halides and vho's over the tank that i can even begin to say what there is over the tank. i know that some are 400w mh and some are 250w mh. the tank was custom built on site its made out of 1 1/2" thick acrylic.
i have to make another trip back to his house to pick up so things and i plan to bring my tri pod next time so i can get some pictures that will do this system justice. im sorry for the poor quality pictures its hard to keep the camera steady when your druling all over the floor.

this is the fish room behind the tank. its aprox 16ft long by 12 ft wide and holds all the support equiptment.

what kind of the fish is that with the poka dots (not the gemtang or the leopard wrasse) its on your 6th post...

oh, and very impressive tank.. what are the specs... and dont be shy.. keep posting pics

that fish is a rabbit fish. in not sure of the exact name. i will try and find out. i do know that its a very rare species of rabbit fish.
next time i go over to his house i will take about 300 more pictures if he dont mind me doing so. i will try and get some more info on the system specs at that time too.

Wow that is is fantasic reef job and setup he did don't know what kind of camera you will be using when you go back I have a Canon Eos 20D 8 megpixal would even concider letiing you borrow it if you want to for better photo's but you did a good job concidering that drool factor! WOW!!!!!!

no. the skimmer and ca reactor were built by reef mania. i think the tank was built by midwest custom acrylics, i have to check to make sure though.
