Shallow 80g

Getting back in.

My old 250g : http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...readid=1440172

Then the 135g: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...readid=1652106

The 150g anemone prop system: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh....php?t=2526904

And now the 80g deep blue 48x24x16. This is my first display since the 135 came down in 2009.

Flow: MP40 (soon to be two of them)
Light: Vertex Illumina (soon to be replaced - way too powerful. Running at 8% right now)
Sump: 40 breeder (soon to be replaced with the big sump from the 135g set up)
Skimmer: Avast Pegleg
ATO: Avast
Dosing: two Avast 2.4 mL/min

This has been running since January, but I got a nasty brown, hairlike algae. Thankfully two 21 day treatments with Fluconazole cleared it up.

Before medication: https://youtu.be/L0UD9ZmNWWM

After medication (last night): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XhI5kCiIdw

Most of the SPS are resting in place and will be secured in their permanent homes shortly.

Looking forward to building a nice display.

Welcome back. I love the dimensions of the tank. What light are you planning on going with?

Hey buddy welcome back. Your old tanks were some of my favourite. Can't wait to see what you accomplish with the new setup.

Finally had time to put into the tank. Cleaned up the algae. Added a boat load of frags. Changed out the lights.

Frags added over the last month:

Walt Disney
Sunset Milli
PC Rainbow
Christmas Mirabilis
Sunset Monti
JF Aquaman Monti
Rainbows in Spain
Strawberry Shortcake
UC Bali Shortcake
ORA Blue Voodoo
Red Planet
My old Red Table
Pink Lemonade
Ponape Birdsnest
Pink Milli
Can't remember the rest!

Now I just need to leave it along to grow out.

Beautiful little reef you have growing, keep those updates coming! I look forward to seeing how things look once your SPS start to grow out more.

Those three cyphastrea mini colonies are really cool looking grouped together like that. Really awesome new frags too.

Thanks Josh.

Still having incredibly slow growth. The only parameter I can't get under control is my pH.
Stuff is growing like crazy in my tank at work, and that only gets a bi weekly water change.

Hey man, how bad is the ph? You know my tank started blooming when I stopped doing waterchanges, but who knows why. I am glad i got to put some of my newer pieces in some tanks these past few weeks. Keep me updated on them too, you will have to teach me how to do videos.
Can you post an updated fts? The tank looked great when I was there! My favorite is that smooth skin green with pinkish tips, at least so far. Also the purple deepwater frag.

Took out the sandbed and started collecting encrusters and polyps to fill the void. Working on an algae reactor for the pH issue.

Battled bubble algae w UWC's Vibrant. Looks like I'm winning.
On to fighting aptasia - just got some F-Aptasia from Frank's. Hopefully I will win that battle too.
