Flo, looking good. Just some start up colours and stuff.
New tank with new rock needs its time to mature.
So far, I think it looks great.

One question, what is that coral in the last picture? A sea fan?

Should be some sort of Pseudopterogorgia or something like that ;-)

Disappointing your swapping the PCC's out mate...was hoping someone was going to do great with these as I am about to put hem over my new tank....Hopefully the Orpheks will fair better?

It’s disappointing for me too
But on Saturday my reefing buddies came over for a beer and we all came to the same conclusion => something is missing

Orphek should do way better seeing the spectrum and the possibilities in setting the color

But I will report on the as soon as they arrive

Cheers

Hey Flo, I missed an update..
Corals do look good.
Coming from t5/mh, it may take some getting used to, no matter what led you use.. it’s just not the same.. not saying better or worse, just not the same..
I am curious to see the orpheks, however..

Thanks Matt!
I think led can surpass T5/mh but they need to be used properly
LEDs with a lot of channels to adjust need to be used with a lot of care! Take the Radion G4 for example... if you adjust them for what your eyes like you will most likely do nothing good to your corals. But using the presets provided by ecotech you will get some great results!!
And coming from the spectrum side the Orphek is really good and I think it’s going to be great!!

T5/mh are easy to use! But them over the tank and finished!! They worked great!

Cheers

Agreed the spectrum is far more controllable and much thicker in the blue end on the Orphek (if that is the holy grail). I can't see much difference in the level of intensity and shimmer etc but as stated the spectrum different.
Power and spread though the PCC faired better for consistency wether that will make a difference as Acro's don't move much!
I am trying the PCC and replacing PS hybrids with 4 no ATI tubes so will be interesting if my growth/ Alk consumption goes up on my mature tank.
Good luck with the Orpheks and please report back.
LED wise I think with their spread and spectrum etc they will be hard to beat.

Hi Flow,
I’ve gone thru that but I’ve chosen to get back to T5.
Colors aren’t so great but coral health and growth it’s great.
Next step could be to replace 2 of the 8 tubes with 2 Led bars but I’m still no convinced that with this configuration the led light can overpass the T5 light.
Waiting for your experience so I can think about returning to Led again...

I will report in my findings

Don’t get me wrong under the pcc the corals are looking healthy but for me there is something missing and running those lights at 100/100 blue channel to white channel is way to yellow for me!!

Cheers

Green is just part of the tanks life cycle. The ugly beginning lifecycle. Don't worry, it'll turn into some other monstrosity eventually and you'll wish it was just some green on the grass.

Stupid hobby lol

Hey guys!

Finally my new Orphek led lights arrived and I had a chance to finish my Triton style sump!!

First of all the pictures

Triton Sump with the light

Tank is getting a groove on after nearly two months of triton method
Now the light change gave the corals another task to adept, but I think it’s working!!
Really love the new lights and the corals seem to like it too

But I really need more corals!!! So empty

Cheers

In general, sequels are less impressive as the primary edition, but this seems to be an exception on the case.
Slowly getting there, Florian. Nice!!

Hey guys!

Here some acro top down shots from yesterday just before I trashed my macro lens today ....

I really love the look of those corals and I am very pleased with the combination Of Orphek and Triton!!

The color change is really visible and the blue light phases are killing it

Hope you guys enjoy it

Flo
