jnb, my impression is that the second fitting is for ozone if you use it but I could be wrong.

yes - I think so - wonder if I should block it - wonder what the design/optimal tune calls for - bocked or unblocked when no ozone - it is very close to the air intake and might interfere with optimality - gosh darn I am anal me thinks

I wonder if non-mini BK owners look down on us Mini's

I just join the club, I got the Bubble King 300 Deluxe Internal a couple of weeks ago, my build is going to be a 215 RR Oceanic with starphire front glass, sump is about 83 gallons, and a frag tank connected to the main tank about 60 gallons, I am looking forward to my my new skimmer, I am planning in keeping a mix reef with sps, lps, also plenty of fish that's the main reason I went with this skimmer there's always another fish that needs to be added so I won't have to worry about my fish load.

Well I just remodelled my tank from a 120 gal in my spare room to a inwall 150 gal SPs 60x24x24 in Oct after I got back from Afghanistan. SO after always wanting a BK i bought the BK Mini 200 only becaue I needed one ASAP and they didn't have the SM 200 in stock.
I'm pretty excited

I was kinda of nervous getting the 200 simply because every one is saying no get the 200 SM the mini wont handle your system.
60x24x24 with a over flowbox with a 30 gal sump Actual water in sump 20 gal may be probably around 15 gal.
i have for a fish load
kole tang 5"
Sailfin Tang 4"
rabbit fish 3"
2 P.J Cardinals
2 clowns
yellow head goby
prawn goby 3"
lammerick angel 2-3 "
leopard wrasse 3"
green mandrin
royal gramma
blue chromis
2 Blue linkia's
3 brittle stars, Orange ,red, leopard
lots of snails approx 40
5 conchs
2-3 " sand bed
around 25 different types of SPS
mushrooms
Zoo's
open brain
8" Squamosa
3 Crocea
2 maxima's
1 derasa

that is about it just to give you a bio load.
SO I hope that the 200 mini will be fine..I get the SKimmer this FRIDAY

Okay, I have kinda a weird situation...

I came down to service my 300 and 250SM last friday and noticed my 300 had "foamed" over the cup and started to drain into the sump. I saw the night before it was very close to the top of the collection cup anyway, but thought I could wait until morning. Well that was an easy fix and clean-up. But once I got the 300 all cleaned and put back together it was constantly over-flowing...Basically like a very wet skim. All the settings stayed the same and this was the result. It would fill the collection cup every 15 seconds with tank water. I then tried to adjust the air pipe and nothing seemed to work. I even adjusted the pump a few turns in or out...nothing. All the while, the 250 SM was working just fine (nice, brownish-black skimmate)...It is also in the same sump (different chamber). Then, I proceeded to remove the 300 from the sump and clean both pumps, collection cup neck, body, and both air pipes...Then the 300 seemed to be working for 10 minutes (by that I mean was not overflowing into the collection cup), but then all of a sudden go nuts and overflow. I even shut it off for 2 days and then pugged it back in...Still volcano of wet saltwater. I did notice that the bigger pump was sucking water very hard (compared to the same pump on the 250). So I am kinda stumped as to what is wrong. Any suggestions?

Yes, they convinced me to wait for the DC pump.........

I am still kicking the idea around though. If the DC pump costs me $2,000 and puts out 3,000 lph air and I can buy another 2500 RDI for $1,000 and end up with 3,500 or 4,000lph air i will take that route.

I have tossed around the idea of buying a ATB skimmer........ but my 250 SM works so incredibly well on my frag system that i'm willing to give Klaus a chance to fix the older 400 internals lack of air issue and make this well built skimmer perform like it should.

IMO the SM 250 excellent skimmer.

As far as your 400 :

There is always different option...... did you ever test how much air your pump pull ?

I am pretty experienced with this done it several times with my Euro Reef, I would remove my riser tube and run it for a couple of hours until everything calms down, it seems any old skimmate causes skimmer to go crazy. Good luck

i'm preparing to plumb my 300ext... got some newbie questions -- thanks in advance for any help!

- where can i buy the proper adapters to US plumbing standards?
- can i reduce the return from the skimmer to 1" without any ill effects? (is it large in order to diminish noise?)
- any other tips on installation?

i am going to try to gravity feed it from a beananimal-style full siphon stand pipe (no bubbles), but if that doesn't work, i plan to drop a pump into my overflow box and feed it from there.

here's the new addition to the family:

do you guys know if this is the latest model of the BK D200 Int?
That's what the original owner told me, ..... I don't know cuss every picture I've found online from vendors shows that the BK D200 internal has a cone shape neck, but the one I have barely has a neck.
