Can I use a 20g long drilled for a frag tank?

Hi, I recently moved from fl to nc, and sold all my tanks.
Since I've been up here in nc, I've gotten into herps, and salamanders.
My brother-in -law recently gave me a 20g long that is drilled? he said it was a reptile tank, but it holds water, and I can't find any info for drilled reptile tanks.
I was going to get out of the hobby, but a 20 gallon frag tank would be cheap.
Also does a sump really serve much of a purpose for a 20long?
I've never seen a tank this small drilled.
Thoughts and advice appreciated...
