Having trouble getting a nice aquascape setup. Just can't seem to come up with something I like. I think I may have to much rock in there right now

It's been a busy week so didn't have time for an update but here it is. I got the bulkheads installed for the ro system so now it is done and running.

I was having a hard time getting to rock setup to something I liked so I told the wife to do what she wanted. I came home and really liked the little changes she made.

My sand, salt and skimmer arrived the other day.

This is my first time using a ro system and man is it slow. I went and got about 60 gallons from the local fish store the other day but still a ways to go. Hopefully it will be full by Sunday.

Finally got it filled yesterday. Total water was about 220 gallons with sump. I ran it fresh water dosed with 15ml of prime for about 4 hours.

Added red sea coral pro salt and mixed for 3 hours at 68° then brought the temp up to 77.6 which is where it sits now. I added 18oz of smartstart before calling it a night.

It's deffinently cloudy, which was expected from mixing in the tank plus the sand storm.

This thing actually runs pretty quiet. Alot better than I was expecting. And not a single leak on the plumbing which is awesome because this was my FIRST time using pvc cement.

Here is an update on where we sit now. We have 2 clowns in here now. Diatoms seem to be coming in like crazy along with a little algae. Looks like we will be hitting the LFS today to get some sort of a start on a clean up crew.

No coral as of now. We have a local frag swap coming up at the end of the month and I plan to pick up as much as I can. Any recommendations on a dip? Or anything else I may need to acquire before getting my first frags?

Picked up a few things at the swap this weekend. After getting them in the tank I'm not very happy with my lighting selection. For the guys using halides or t5s what spectrum are you using. Right now I have 4 t5s, 2 of them are 10k and the other 2 are actinic. I also have 3 250w halides that are 10k.

Change the halides to 15k or 20k? What are you all running? Pics if you have them.

Haven't posted to here in a while so just wanted to get a visual update out there. I recently picked up 3 oceanrevive LEDs to replace the coralife fixture I've been running. So of course, with new lights, I had to build a canopy. Currently I have the whites at 25% and blues at 35%.

I haven't been on RC for awhile, but started browsing again and came across your build. Looks great! I like the sliding doors, not sure why I never considered that as an option, certainly adds some great character and function!
