http://sites.google.com/site/acserial2web/ I'll be updating the program to include streaming video using a cheap usb webcam. I just use google document spreadsheet for my maintenance log. that way I can access the spreadsheet from my iphone or any computer on the internet. |

Two other apps of noted interest are AquaStatix, which is used to store tank params, and iTank Calc, which was created by a RC member, and is used to calculate tank volumes.

I just want to confirm because that is the only reason I was holding out for the Apex instead of the Jr. I want to be able to monitor this from my phone. |

Great thread! Just downloaded coral magazine app for free!
I also use Aquanotes with my Apex on my iPod touch. Awesome app, and helped me justify buying the iPod Does anyone know if there's a widget feature for the iPhone/Pod version? Keep the suggestions coming! -Tim |

What I would love to see from an iPad app:
1. Ability to record tank/testing parameters/results 2. Ability to schedule dosings/water changes/bulb replacements with reminders 3. Ability to record fish/coral livestock with pics

HenryH's Apex App works great on my Verizon Incredible with my ACIII. With the paid version I monitor my Time, Graphing, Temp, pH, and Ca Rx. It allows you to update the control status of anything on the controller.
With the unpaid version you can monitor everything, but not update any controls. IMO for $2.99 it's one of the best apps I have. Tim

Hey Chris,
I got two apps for my ipod touch that are pretty decent so far. I emailed the developer of the one with some suggestions to make it better and he is working on it since this is the first release. Aquaplanner will take care of your 2nd requirement. You can setup all reminders and schedule maintanence, bulb changes, dosing, etc. Aquastatix will take care of your 1st requirement. You can record all parameters. My only complaint with this one is we don't test for half of the ones in this app and I would love to delete or hide the ones I don't use. But it will graph and track all parameters. Hope this helps. And as OP have said aquanotes app is awesome. I control everything from my ipod. If I'm traveling I log in through my router. Quote:

I have the app on my Android for the Apex Lite. It works great. Occansionally my phone may lose connection and it comes up with an HTML error but selecting the app and opening to the screen usually resolves the problem. The free app is great for monitoring the tank. You can then use the web to make any controller changes if the need arises on the smartphone. The paid version allows this to be done in one less step.

iPhone App
aquaPlanner - 4/5 stars | I was given this app to test, and I really like it's concept. It's simple. Set the desired intervals for various aquarium maintenance chores, and the phone sends you reminders to actually do them. When you complete a particular task (e.g. change the activated carbon), you click the respective reset button, and the clock starts ticking again. The app works well, and is a good reminder tool for the novice / intermediate hobbyist. For advanced aquarists, I would like to see some user-editable content in the app. For example, one could maybe change "Chemi-Pure" to "Biopellets" and be able to numerically assign the time intervals, instead of using sliders. Also, adding and removing reminders to suit one's individual tank would be the key, like adding a "clean the sump" reminder. |

My aquarium logger for droid. One of our locals loved it. I have yet to try it. 2.99 though, but that's not much compared to what I regularly spend on my tank.

I wish the aquastix had graphs like aqua notes to show increases and decreases during day, week, month, etc....
Definitely lacking and I wish the marine section on what we test for was more refined, there are things that we don't test for and or are not necessary and we should be able to hold it down and move it or trash it. |

I downloaded Aqua Tracker (iPad) a few days ago. Works good, I wish you could add notes, like what you dosed the day you tested. If you could set up reminders/notifications for maintenance it would be nice too. Otherwise, its good.
