No I do not use carbon dosing or zeovit. I just feed my fish some pellets and spirulina flakes and the coral get all the fish poo they can find. I tried biopellets about three years ago or so and it did not work out well for me. I have gone back to basics more or less. I use a calcium reactor, ATO, chiller, GFO, refugium with lots of chaeto, an awesome bubble king protein skimmer--BK 200 mini and I utilize metal halides and t5s for lighting. Lots of flow in the tank (but everyone says that). I complete a 10 gallon water change weekly becasue that is all my back can handle, which is not a lot of water change for a 180 gallon tank. And I use saltwater and RO water from two LFS because i just don't want any more equipment at home |

Thought it might be interesting to share some growth pictures. October, 2012 is when I got my big boy camera so that is really when I started taking lots of pictures.
October 2012 May 2013 October 2012 May 2013 October 2012 (it is not a chalice but its close, kind of) July 2013 (it is still on the original disk) October 2012 May 2013 October 2012 July 2013 The change in coloring has to do with a new lighting fixture with different bulbs that I am not quite used to correcting yet. But hopefully you can spot the growth over time. Last edited by watchguy123; 07/17/2013 at 12:25 AM. |

Found another one
October 2012 July 2013 (It was doing battle with the pink boobie chalice, so I have moved it and positioned in this spot. It is a little weird on its side, but I am running out of real estate. Hopefully, you can notice that it has overgrown the pink epoxy base that it is still glued on) Last edited by watchguy123; 07/17/2013 at 12:45 AM. |
