10G Nano Tank, Starting to Reef

Hi all,

Just joined the community and after having FW tanks around 5-6 years decided to have Saltwater. Did a lot of research and finally weekend started to cycling that tank.

So I made my own tank from ClearGlass 38x38x35

Equipments;
  • Sicce Voyager Nano 1000
  • EHEIM JÄGER 75W thermostatic heaters
  • Caribsea Hawaiian black live sand
  • 6kg dry rock
  • LemanBest Reflectometer
  • HIPARGERO LED Aquarium Light 30w (On the delivery)

still, there are some stuff which I am looking to buy like;
  • Tidal 55 HOB Filter
  • Eheim Skim Marine 100 nano
  • Chemi-Pure Blue

for cycling, I am ghost feeding the tank and addition to that from yesterday adding also Seachem Stability.

02/05/2018
  • Salinity is 1.025
  • Temp is 25 C
  • Ammonia is 0.01

after seeing an increase in Ammonia, I will start checking Nitrite and Nitrate as well.

probably my after my next purchase I will also get RO/DI unit, for now I just got RO water from Aquarium shop.

here is the first pic;

After getting my light I will share more pics.

thank you.

Here is the first picture, water was cloudy but from yesterday clear enough to see in it;

Still, there is no lid on the tank, I just put something to keep the water as much as in the tank but I will start doing some glass lid as it will help me for water evaporation.

Getting excited

BR.

Looking very nice, and very cool that you built the tank yourself. Be cautious going with a glass lid on a tank that small. It will help with evaporation, but want to make sure you have enough oxygen exchange too. Especially where you said initially you still didn't have a skimmer.

Thank you , I can make with net also but it can block some light which gonna pass from the lid. My idea was to not cover whole top with the glass lid as I will need a place to HOB filter and for Skimmer too. Maybe 60-70% of the top. Before having Skimmer I will not put any live fish etc. also.

Thank you.

Thank you My point was, to close the 65-70% of the top, as I will need opened area for HOB filter and Skimmer. Ned is the other option but, I have concerns that Ned is blocking some of the lights when light is passing through.

Update, Cycling is on going,

-11.05.2018-
  • Sallanity 1.026
  • Temp 25 C
  • Ammonia 1 ppm
  • Nitrite 4 ppm
  • Nitrate 50 ppm

Bought Salifert Ammonia test, I was using Seachem MultiTest Ammonia but as it is very difficult to use and taking more time to do test I decided to get Salifert. Also HIPARGERO LED 30 light is just received and I am very happy with it for now.
