I would say the best part is looking back and seeing the progress that you didn't notice looking at it daily. My torch is easily 5 times the size but I don't notice till I look back at old pictures

I was just looking over my build thread the other day and couldn't believe how much stuff has grown. You don't really realize it when you look at it every day.

Ok after much thought I decided to put some sprigs of the macros I bought in the 29 the rest is in the 14 gallon.
I would much rather trim something pretty like they are instead of battle something ugly like GHA.

Bad decision. Gha is easy to beat but bryopsis and culpera are a pain. I suggest you look into the threads of those battles to see what you are seeing yourself up for

My 14 gallon was nothing but GHA for over 8 months. This is why I shut it down. I could not no matter what I did get it under control.
And yes I researched the stuff. Rather have it then the other.

If you researched then you would know you can't simply trim culpera with its root structure. And if you couldn't get a simple algae like gha under control then you are asking for disaster from the more invasive macro you put in

honestly in a new tank let it go a bit as it is pulling the phosphates from your rocks now. Let the cuc do its job. If it gets bad look in my thread for the link to my video on peroxide paste.

I remember even my tank had like 0.25-0.5" of GHA looking crap growing on my rocks when it was cycling, but the minute I saw that I knew it was time for CUC. Within 36 hours or so, it was all gone. 6 Astrea snails and 6 blue-leg hermits. |

Cant say I worry too much about GHA. It is an easy algae to wrangle back under control. It is the bryopsis and culpera that scare me. Heck in my tank I have a bit of the crap coming back even after nuking it to high heaven. Seems more is needed and I will be doing so on the next water change on Sunday. I just need to get some more peroxide.
I believe this outbreak is from me winning the battle against the red cyano and there being more organics in the water feeding the algae.

what snails?
Just remember that hermits eat snails for their shells, for fun, or when they are hungry...

Luckily you got red leg hermits, the most docile of the hermits. I doubt your snails are in jeopardy. I've got 4 red legs in my cube, and every one of my snails are accounted for.
Keep them well fed, have extra shells and you'll be fine.
