Missing coral banded shrimp!
I purchased a coral banded shrimp from petco today, to my surprise when I looked in the tank a few hours later he is gone?
Do they hide when first added or did one of my fish eat him? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

They hide until they are comfortable. Give it a few days.
Do you have a hawkfish? Or triggers, puffers? They would be some of the likely happy full fish. What size tank, how much rock to hide in, what other fish do you have? Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk |

Missing coral banded shrimp!
Tank is 90 gallons, not much rock but plenty for him to hide in.
The two most likely to eat the shrimp would be my six line and dottyback. No triggers puffers or hawkfish. Thanks for the help, I hope he is just hiding Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Missing coral banded shrimp!
Yep was the shrimp I don’t know what happened? He survived the acclimation yesterday so something happened last night. I found him stuck against a filter today is it possible he got stuck there and died?

Yeah I’m think a skunk cleaner for my next shrimp, will also be more peaceful then the coral banded. Hopefully next time he makes it.
Thanks for the help, much appreciated Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I really like my blood red shrimp. My yellow tang backs into his cave to get cleaned. It is the coolest thing to watch. I also have a coral banded shrimp.

I like the bright red on the blood shrimp, will have to see what the lfs has in stock. The cleaning also sounds cool.
Thanks for the suggestion Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Missing coral banded shrimp!
Yep acclimation was very slow, used a drip acclimation to match salinity and temperature acclimated to tank.
Will defiantly look into those shrimp and do a more thorough acclimation when I get them to make sure the acclimation doesn’t kill them. Thanks for help Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Make sure when you drip acclimate that you do it for a long time, but not so slow of a drip that the temp actually drops a lot. I've had issues with that before. The slow drip adjustment for water chemistry wasn't able to keep up with the heat loss in the container.
How long did you drip acclimate for? I like to float the bags first for like 20/30ish minutes with the lights off, then move to a big enough container that I can drip in for another 30 min to an hour depending on what creature it is. Some things need longer but then you run into the possible temp issues. Also if your water is VASTLY different then the store water it could take much longer to adjust. Some stores run FOWLR gravity so it takes a lot more water dripping to adjust to reef levels. Inverts are super sensitive. |

Yeah I drip acclimated for about an hour or so but I don’t it was enough for the shrimp.i was basing my acclimation time on what I used for the snails I purchased from petco, but might have not been enough.
I believe petco runs there tanks at 1.022-1.023 specific gravity and I run my tank at 1.025 the hour acclimation was probably not enough for that adjustment. Next invert. I will do much slower acclimation and add a heater in the acclimation bucket to maintain temp. Thanks for the help. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Slowly fill the bag full with new water, maybe every 3-4 minutes with half a hydrometer, empty half, fill it again. Check salinity. Maybe empty half and fill it again a third time. Should take about 1 to 2 hours. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk |

Yeah this does sound like a good idea and will keep temp. Stable while acclimating. I will have to try it with my next addition thanks for suggestion.
